If there's too be no more tours but selective or one-off dates, then I think that for any of us to have to see the Stones again in a concert setting after August 2007, we're going to have to pay absolutely silly amounts of money to do so.

Smaller stages mean less construction material, less staff, less trucks, less $$$
away the war horses. ahead for blues rock soul

We may have to wait another 20 years before we get to see them in Clubs, 10 years before Montreux. I hope not.

Hey, Joe hi

Smaller venues mean less overheads as you correctly say, but if you recall the first arena tour in modern times (No Security) was the first one with the silly ticket prices.

The bottom line is that the Stones get a guaranteed amount per show. There were originally supposed to be a lot more arena shows on this tour than actually took place. However, their demands scared too many local promoters off as their own profit for an arena show after the Stones took their cut would have been minimal. Which is why many of them ended up in stadiums instead

that term is all relative, isnt it..LOL

I do get little tips and gossip, naturally, but at the same time a lot of this is just a case of using logic and putting two and two together.

Lethargy If the "regular touring" is now over, and their destiny is too perform occasional "one-offs"...Let's see...whipping out my Stonesian calculator...Regular touring ticket cost: $100-$500, times Keith's arthritic multiplier divided by the Charlie Constant.

I think tickets to attend the one-offs will cost us $12,500 per seat.

Get to work, Senior Cohl

Sure they could do an arena show each in Las Vegas, LA and NYC... but where else? There might be a city in Canada and the midwest somewhere they haven't played but this market is just about totally tapped out for the next few years.

That version of "Happy"...??? How do the Stones tell themselves that this is an acceptable version? That is terrible; even the BU vocals are lame. keith forget it. I hear that often bands start doing their early rockers in a more relaxed manner late in career. Like less is more, or you find the essence of the song in a subdued tempo...something like that. Keith is trying to find the crapessence in his song.

I'm still sticking to my TWO excellent sources who are reporting a return to the States in the Fall for a few very limited engagements.

I am clinging to this as I cannot fathom never seeing them again and I cannot go to London.

Please let me keep my glimmer of hope alive.

LJ.

GLIMMER!!!! Yes! I will cling along with you LJ.

This is hard for me too. I dreamed a long dream last night that I was hanging out with the Stones. At the end of the dream I was asking Mick ( told you this was a dream...cause we all know...he's so COLD!) if they were coming back to the US. He wouldn't tell me at first...then right before I woke up he answered "No". ;-( I had to wake right up....I felt deeply sad and somewhat sick when I heard his answer.

Dammitt to hell....I NEED a bahzillion +2 damn dollars so LJ and I can travel to ALL of the remaining shows!

Thanks for keeping my hopes-up LJ. You know I feel much the same as you do about all of this. I put on my Hampton '81 DVD to soothe myself this weekend. It does really help having so much Stones in my house. They will never stop spinning on my CD player!!!!

NEVER EVER EVER STOP!

peace and love hippies,

The Jew
A poem
-----------------------------------------------------
Scattered by God's almighty hand,
Afflicted and forlorn,
Sad wanderers from their pleasant Land,
Do Judah's children mourn;
And e'en in Christian countries, few
Breathe thoughts of pity for the Jew.
Yet listen, Gentile, do you love
The Bible's precious page?
Then let your heart with kindness move
To Israel's heritage;
Who traced those lines of love for you?
Each sacred writer was a Jew.
And then as years and ages passed,
And Nations rose and fell,
Though clouds and darkness oft were cast
O'er captive Israel
The oracles of God for you
Were kept in safety by the Jew.
And when the great Redeemer came
For guilty man to bleed.
He did not take an angel's name,
No, born of Abraham's seed,
Jesus, who gave His life for you -
The gentle Saviour - was a Jew.
And though His own received Him not,
And turned in pride away,
Whence is the Gentile's happier lot?
Are you more just than they?
No! God in pity turned to you -
Have you no pity for the Jew?
Go, then, and bend your knee to pray
For Israel's ancient race;
Ask the dear Saviour every day
To call them by His grace.
Go, for a debt of love is due
From Christian Gentiles to the Jew.
