Not for me it isn't. I just added a provision to my will for the "Dan Memorial Torrent."

Riffhard There may well be something to the rumour this time. I heard Ian McLagan say it outright not three months ago. He seemed to be very certain of it at that.

However,I would be shocked if there were not the occasional one-off show here and there.

Everything I've heard in recent weeks suggests that after the 02 shows, thats it - no more tours

Maybe, but that would require a 100% change in the modus operandi of the Stones, as they havent done "one off" shows since 1979 (and even then, because it was part of the conditions of Keith's sentence in Toronto!). They seem incapable of working in a way that isnt some prolonged large scale operation.

If there's too be no more tours but selective or one-off dates, then I think that for any of us to have to see the Stones again in a concert setting after August 2007, we're going to have to pay absolutely silly amounts of money to do so. The chances of them suddenly thinking "OK, we've made our money, lets do the occasional show at sensible prices from now on" are slender at best.

LadyJane I'm still sticking to my TWO excellent sources who are reporting a return to the States in the Fall for a few very limited engagements.

I am clinging to this as I cannot fathom never seeing them again and I cannot go to London.

Please let me keep my glimmer of hope alive.

Theres a significant difference between "very limited engagements" and "no more tours", though.

I dont think this band will ever disband during the lifetime of the current line up.

However, I dont think they have another prolonged period of touring in them.

Strange_Stray_Cat It seems over for Keith it seems. But I will state my opinion after the Copenhagen show. Well, 2 weeks after it when I get back home that is. If I can return to my home that is.

IT IS STILL A MESS!

i have no idea..but i don't think this 'limited engagement' thing is not going to happen.

why would they waste their time with 4-5 gigs...say 2 in ny 2 in la 2 maybe someplace else.

i think once they finish this sprint across europe..they will chill for awhile and then come and do shows here....hopefully a blast of stadium gigs.

just my 2 cents

well, if they were to do a short burst of shows very soon after Europe, its not a case of 'wasting their time', because its merely an extension of the current tour with the same crew. However, to regroup months later and then do a small number of shows...unless they restructure the way they have worked for the last three decades or more, they're not going to bother rehearsing for something that brief unless they get paid ridiculous amounts of money for minimal effort.

Not in the immediate future they wont. There simply isnt the market for it. Theyve absolutely milked the US market dry in 2005-2006.

Jagger has a solo album on the cards for late 2007. I would imagine he still may have some work to do on that, and I heard months ago that he's made it clear he doesnt want to be still doing this tour come September.

glencar I have no sources. At all. But looking at pix & things, these guys look tired. they're srating to get REALLY old. I agree that this is the last tour. I'm still strongly thinking about the middle O2 show although there are some people in my life who would think I was a bit crazy to return from Dublin on Monday & take off on Thursday for a 2 day trip to London. I've got time though. There are all these new discount airlines that fly from JFK to various London airports.

icydanger Uncovered negativism?

Music is a passion the Rolling Stones live through, if any one of the Stones had to stop he’d be unhappy.

I am looking forwards to smaller venues.
Keith wouldn't even have to change during the show, playing and singing with his intense bluesy voice.
Less stress on Mick, he could ease out, move less on stage. wow. i am sure he'd run elite in marathons, or half marathons, and win
Ronnie would happily play with the public, and
Charlie stays his same, steady and reliable self as always.

Theaters, clubs, Jazz festivals, and so on, less Gigantism, means closer to true fans. imo

ooops edited to add, it is not the end, but the beginning of a new era.

I suspect you are right, Gazza. That's why I had to make plans to be at that last 02 show.

On his website Chuck has already announced solo dates for September:

"Green Leaves and Blue Notes" tour!

Chuck is very proud and happy to announce his "Green Leaves and Blue Notes" tour! This has been in the working for more than a year, and is now a reality! The first show will be Aug 25th in Frankfurt, for the "Blues Schmus & Apfelmus" Festival at Laubach, Park. Chuck has been fortunate to find some first rate musicians to join him for some of the shows, and others will be solo performances. The rest of the tour will take place during September, right after the Rolling Stones finish this leg of the Bigger Bang Tour. As part of this tour, he will also be doing some public relations work in conjunction with the German Forest Landowners Association. So far the dates are:

* 8/25/07 - "Blues Schmus & Apfelmus"; Laubach, Park
* 9/1/07 - Charity-Konzert Schlob Esterhazy; Eisenstadt/Austria - Private Event
* 9/2/07 - Joch'n Roll Open Air Festival - Familientag, Hameln
* 9/7/07 - Concert for Journalists and Publishers, Literaturhaus Cafe, Hamburg - Private Event
* 9/9/07 - Lippmann & Rau Foundation, Wartburg, Eisenach
* 9/12/07 - AXA-Symposium, Burg Satzvey, Mechernich - Private Event
* 9/14/07 - HR1 Live Lounge Horerkonzert, Bigbandstudio des Hessischen Rundfunks Frankfurt (tickets only via Customers Telephone HR1)
* 9/17/07 - Evening with Members of the Deutsche Bundestag, Berlin, Deutsche Parlamentarische Gesellschaft Berlin - Private Event
* 9/21/07 - Sinkkasten, Frankfurt

I do not have a passport.
I do not have enough vacation time.
I do not have finances.

It's not in the cards for me.
If I've seen the Band for the last time, well, I'll deal with it. If Chuck has dates scheduled for Fall, well I guess my sources were wrong this time.

But London is NOT an option.

Sir Stonesalot I think this is definitely the last curtain call for the enormo-dome type tours.

But fear not my friends, Vegas is calling. Look for extended engagements ala Elton John & Celine Dion. I'd guess at either The Hard Rock or MGM Grand.

Unless they build their own casino/hotel...

b-stage?

By 2012, they'll need to incorporate some kind of stairlift to get them out to it.....
