Bloozehound my main problem was with the headliners, what a collective bunch of popstar bores

REM, Who, Macca, Madonna, U2, Elton, Sting, Neil Young ~ blahhh Ohhh!...and the Pink Floyd!!

bunch of tired old farts fartin in the wind

Were they really out to solve world hunger, or cure world insomnia ZZZzzzzz.....

Hustler magazine probalby rated the whole shebang 4 very limp dix

I dunno, maybe it was for a good cause, but this whole affair didn't perk my interest 1 iota

I'm cool with the Stones no showin

BTW

Where the hell was that teary-eyed, fat terd Sally Strothers ?

I didn't see the whole thing, but what I saw, I enjoyed.

I thought Velvet Revolver and The Killers were very good and I actually quite enjoyed Robbie William’s performance.

I wish to God that I could say I enjoyed Elton John and Pete Doherty, but the former Libertine is becoming a real joke. His drunkenness and shambolic performances were funny for five minutes, now it's getting tiresome. As always, he looked as cool as fuck, I just wish he was capable of stringing a few coherent words together.

Voodoo Scrounge The worst thing about Pete Doherty is that he is a hipocrite magnet. When he is found dead in a puddle of his own vomit the press will report the death of "A modern day shakespeare" and all that shit. They will lick his junkie arse just like they did Kurt Cobaine and the likes.
Until then, his name will be mud

I agree with some of your points, but there is ONE or two things you are over-looking.

Pete Doherty DOES have talent and there was a time when he was always sober and never high. My one wish is that I got to see him with The Libertines a few years ago. I did catch the band live in 2003, but he was "missing". I have footage of him on stage back then and the guy was fantastic. When interacting with the crowd, his speech was clear and he was on the ball. He's written some fantastic songs and one can only hope that he regains what he once had. I think the talent is still there and I just know that the Babyshambles album will prove all the doubters wrong.

I've read articles where people have compared him to Sid Vicious. That is ludicrous. Okay, so Doherty is/was a junkie, but that is where the comparisons with Vicious end. He couldn't write songs or play a musical instrument. Pete Doherty can.

Don't say that Jumacfly! However, I must admit, I have heard that they're quite poor live.

Actually, I have some great news! I 've just booked tickets to see Babyshambles at The Brixton Acadamy next month!

For anyone who is interested. Tickets are available at www.nme.com

None of the other ticket sites seem to have them available at the moment.

Yes, I can imagine that Interpol were very good live and like I said, I had heard that The Killers are not too hot in concert. I like Kasabian. It took me a while to warm to them, but I'm ready to embrace them now.

So this gig was a triple bill? It sounds great.

I WILL enjoy the show. I just hope he shows up. He let me down in that department two years ago.

Voodoo Scrounge The Killers are a fantastic live band. I cant wait to see them at the Reading festival next month. They chose a very poor song to play at Live 8. They should have played "Somebody Told Me" or "Jenny is a Friend of Mine".

Babyshambles will be a great gig. I am going to see Oasis at Milton Keynes Bowl with a load of music execs on saturday and they are the support act. That will be a bit of a laugh.

I had the chance to catch Oasis in Manchester last Saturday, but declined.

Tickets are on sale again for both they're Milton Keynes shows. I was contemplaiting going, but I think it will be difficult travel wise.
July 6th, 2005 11:19 AM
Voodoo Scrounge Is that where you are coming from? Manchester?

National Express are doing buses to the Milton Keynes Bowl both nights for £12.50 a person I think.

We are getting the train Friday night and staying in the Hilton up there. Booked it months ago.

Just checked.
The National Express are running buses to and from the Bowl all day long from various places.
Last bus leaves MKB at 11.30PM

No, I live in Kent.

Thank you for doing your research there! However, I still won't be going. I have changed my reasons though. It's no longer the travel which is getting in the way, it's the money. £12.50 is very cheap, but with the cost of the gig too, I won't be able to afford it. I've just booked Babyshambles tickets anyway. I'm one happy camper!
July 6th, 2005 11:29 AM
Voodoo Scrounge Im sure they are recording the Saturday night to be put on DVD anyway.

I will try and stay sober enough to remember a setlist ect and post it on here soon after. I will give you a full report.

All the best

Make sure you do. Oasis rule. There needs to be more of an appreciation for them at this board.

I've been playing Don't Believe The Truth today. The critics were right. It's certainly their best effort since What's The Story (Morning Glory?) I posted a review of it, but few took notice.

It's all jealousy. Certain posters who'll remain nameless, cannot hack the fact that Zak Starkey is very happy being the Oasis drummer. Although it's only a temporarily appointment at the moment, I have a hunch he'll soon be a full time member. He's in their new video for The Importance Of Being Idle. Lyla was in one thing, but to be in two videos does get me wondering.

It must've been some other totally obscure Carolina bluesmen you saw.

Sir Stonesalot >I don't know how you can find boring PF<

It's very very easy to find Pink Floyd boring. It's because they ARE boring. They became boring the minute Syd Barret quit writing the songs. In fact, IMO, the only decent record that they ever did was Pipers at the Gates of Dawn. The rest is overdone pretentious hogshit. Roger Waters is a fucknut.

As for Oasis, I absolutely love the first two albums. That was some good stuff. However, the rest is, IMO, overdone pretentious hogshit. The new album is...well...boring. It literally put me to sleep. So as a sleeping pill, the new Oasis album is great. I don't think that is what they were shooting for though...

Green Day are OK. Derivitive certainly, but for some reason I don't mind. I guess it's just that I don't really care about them. I liked the song "American Idiot", but I found the album to be a bit long winded. To me, Green Day is like Pearl Jam. I just don't care. It's like, yeah whatever.

BTW, I just read that MTV/VH1 were not allowed to show any complete performances. It's because of the DVD package. I wasn't buyin' the stupid thing either way.
