Topic: Song About Stones On New Sonic Youth Album Return to archive
23rd June 2004 09:28 AM
prism There's a song about the Stones on the new Sonic Youth album "Sonic Nurse". The song is called "Stones" and it's great but you can't quite make out the words. "Sonic Nurse" is #1 on college radio according to the Rolling Stone magazine with Ray Charles. Keith is interviewed about Ray Charles and there's a photo on another page of Keith playing recently with an elderly black blues musician in a Connecticut club.

jb Where can we obtain lyrics?
23rd June 2004 10:17 AM
Lil Brian "Stones"

Lights on the stones on backed-up drain
What lovers list on languid stain
We've come together to gather star
Shooting up stones a pallored heart

Dead or alive
There's danger
The dead are alright
With me

We're not gonna run away
We're not gonna leave you stranger
We turn the light on your lonely home

Camera on the haunted stones
Blood-shadow gentle painted scorn
Now it's dancin' ink across your skin
Hieroglyphic-lover nature-friend

The dead are alive
There's danger
The dead are alright
With me

We're not gonna run away
We're not gonna leave you stranger
We turn the light on your lonely home

jb It's nice to know that a grunge band would write something so nice about the Stones.

prism Sonic Youth and the Stones do have a few close mutual friends, among them Marlon Richards and L. Touch.
24th June 2004 01:22 AM
beer And they've both visited the Master Musicians of Joujouka in Morocco. Brian Jones went there in the 60's, Jagger went there for Continental drift in the 80's, and i'm pretty sure Sonic youth witnessed them in the 90's.
