Topic: What about Keith's amps? Return to archive

morocco I know that Keith is very picky about his guitars, and he has personal favorites like Macomber squirreled away. But what about his amps? Is he picky about his amps? Does he have favorites? What are they and what is special about them?

sammy davis jr. He seems not to be too picky about amps.....they seem to switch amps every tour. Mesa Boogie and Fenders seem to be his faves though.

56DeSoto Bill over at studioguitarworks.com thinks he usually uses vintage Fender tweed twin amps on the road these days. That's not looking at the extension cabs. In the studio, it's probably anything goes.

morocco Neil Young is famous for owning over a hundred Fender Tweed Deluxe amps. Of course, he only likes and uses one of them.

tumbled I don't think I'm alone in this bitch, but in Charlottesville last year I was Appalled that the Ampegs were left on stage during the bomb scare where in the entire band were whisked off in limousines wherein the Ampegs were left standing like sentries while our sorry asses were forcibly forced back to row 25 from row 8 meanwhile beautiflul white ampegs among other historic marshall amps were left to their own devices on stage during A BOMB scare. appalling shit. its incomprehensible. sorry to dramatize but rightfully dramatic I would say

I must add that from my observation there are some quite nice renovated old early 1950's blond color marshall amps appearing at every show during licks and big bang that are used by Keith and must have been renovated by his crew
