Yes, Sir Stonesalot, you're right.
I guess it just brought back emotion about Brian's death...the Hyde Park show was already planned before Brian's death, and I think it should have been a better memorial to him.....Roger's statement helped bring things into perspective.

Weird how Roger's statement is 100 times better than Pete's.
Do you think Pete wrote it?
It's happened before.
My thoughts exactly, O Tallest of All My C10 Brethren. Pete's statement reminded me a lot of his statement before their 105th Farewell Tour - "I 'ate these guys, I 'ate this music, but America will insist on sending us home very wealthy men..." - really, that's almost a direct quote - and watching "The Kids Are Alright" this weekend reminded me what a pompous ASS Pete can be when he's not pummeling a guitar.
Roger, on the other hand, who has always struck me as having the intelligence quotient of broccoli, wrote something that made me think the whole thing DOESN'T smell like burning tires.
As for Pete writing it, it's possible - when I was in a great band back in the 80s I used to make up quotes for the singer all the time. I made up the interviewers' questions every chance I got too.
Can't trust those singers any further than you can throw them.*
*(This cliche does not apply to Ronnie James Dio, who is tiny enough to be thrown into a neighboring state.) |
