Topic: First Stones' million selling album in the UK Return to archive Page: 1 2

Soldatti Source: Music Week

Finally, in a career of more than 43 years, The Rolling Stones have enjoyed enormous success but never managed to have a million selling album in the UK - until now. Their recently reactivated 2002 compilation Forty Licks sailed into seven figure territory on Friday, earning a well deserved first for the band. It’s the 100th artist album to sell upwards of a million copies since 2000. Seven compilations have also reached the target. Forty Licks sold 8,887 copies last week, while dipping 26-29, taking its total to 1,003,040.

nope...1 million albums x 2.

equivalent to 10 million units in the US where theyve played about 110-120 shows to promote it, compared to 10 over here, so I think we did OK considering

whats your excuse?

3rd July 2006 02:50 PM

Gazza yeah

The aptly named 'Biggest mistake' or (hopefully not) "streets of love"

Other than that - I dont expect much different, plus as its all stadiums, it'll be even more hits friendly than elsewhere

The full album sold 1 million copies. We could say that the album sold 2 million copies if we count both CD's. In US, Forty Licks sold 2.7 million copies.

The second best selling album in UK must be Jump Back, according to an article of Music Week from April 2002 (when the album re-entered at #27 in UK) it sold 803,000 copies back then. I say that its between 875k-850k now.
