jostorm Gazza: thanks for putting the record straight regarding song writing credits, but you do get my gist, don't you???
As a mum there is (perhaps understandably) a dark place somewhere inside of me where a fascist monster alterego of mine lives, who wants every paedophile immediately castrated and strung up from a lamp post, as she believes it to be irrelevant "why" they feel like that, she simply wants a "predator-free" society for kids to move about in freely, full stop...
Generally speaking, however, I still believe in the good in people, and I do generally loath the media. IMHO anyone who reads the Sun and publications like it needs to have their heads looked at! Same applies to people watching Big Brother and other shite like it that obsesses with so called "celebrities" and fly-on-the-wALL documentaries..... I'm sure tabloid newspapers and TV bombard us with a constant supply of utter shite to keep us quiet and content and ignorant of what politicians are really up to, sort of anesthetised. And I wouldn't grant them any journalistic cred ! I read a fairly serious newspaper daily and I only remember reading a very small piece about Pete's alleged trespasses when it happened, so I know very little about it. And apologies to everyone if you already discussed this ad nauseam!!!!.

According to the British law system, if he had been found guilty of ANYTHING, they would have "sent him down". Some of the people caught by operation "Ore" just got lenghty jail sentences. And they had a vast string of conversations and links reaching worldwide to other paedophiles in Poland, the Us, the UK and God knows where else, and loads of disgusting graphic stuff involving children on their computers....So I'm glad they've been caught!
We (and Gary Glitter) all know how impossible it is to erase information from our computers without leaving a trace, and PT's PCs were looked at with a fine comb by professionals who do nothing else but....And they found zilch for a prosecution... Do you really believe they would have LET HIM OFF otherwise????
So, before a court of law as well as in my eyes the man has done nothing wrong! Perhaps he was naive, but the thing about the internet is that something potentially "illegal" is only a click away from you and even me.... So, I'm perfectly happy giving him the benefit of the doubt!
The fact that he got put on the sex offenders list is a direct consequence of having been found "buying" information from a fairly depraved site/s. And as a consequence of being on said list he is subject to plenty of rules and regulations(like not being allowed to be alone with kids, so the babysitting question is settled once and for all...)
I believe in his case making him "take down" that blog goes a little far, at least for my taste, but I'm sure some very clever people thought of how to bar sex offenders from direct and indirect influence upon impressionable children, and this must be one of the ways they stipulated(????)

And,incidentally, do you not find it a bit strange that when the shit DID hit the fan, no rats came out of their sewer holes to procclaim "Pete abused me when I was a 12 year old boy!" I'm sure it would have appeared in the same publication that famously screamed from it's front page "Freddy Starr ate my hamster!"...

As far as I'm concerned, whether he wants to sexually indulge in whatever way with however many consenting adults is none of anyone's business,is it?? So, Max Lugar and friends, you are talking through the proverbial colonoscoped arse......

Zulu Fun Mix I agree with Gazza: Why is a 16-year-old considered a child? I think about having sex with 16-year girls almost every time I see one! And I read of a study not too long ago where they attached electrodes to various male body parts and showed the owners pictures. Most adult males get most turned on by seeing pictures of girls 15-18, followed by 19-22, 23-26, etc. It's deeply biological and has to do with wanting to mate with females who are more likely to be virgins (but capable of conceiving). So if Pete had a story up about two 6-year-olds having sex, that would be sick, but not 16-year-olds. Hell, 100 years ago 90% of girls were married by 14 or 15 anyway. It's all hypocritical Anglo-American puritanistic bullshit.

in a fucking nutshell. In this country, there is NO leeway regarding accessing paysites for that kind of loathesome activity. If you're charged and found guilty, you get prosecuted, (probably) jailed and placed on the sex offenders register. As it should be.

We've been through this before on this board but the fact that he was released with a caution (which does NOT happen by law if you are guilty of ANYTHING regarding child porn), which effectively means that the police found the reasons for what he did believable, even though the fact that he was stupid enough to access a paysite as part of what he described as research meant that he HAD to be cautioned. They're obliged to do that. The zeal with which the police justifiably pursue Operation Ore plus the fact that this subject is so high profile in the media would have made it a great public relations coup to have a famous celebrity found guilty and sent to jail.

If there was anything on him, he would have been sent to prison. And rightly so, of course. Even as a Who fan, I'd have had absolutely no sympathy for him had that been the case. Had he got beaten to a pulp in prison after being found guilty of something like that, my attitude would have been 'fuck him"

As for his decision to take the story down. Well,I didnt read it personally (I was unaware of it and would have had no interest in any case) but I daresay had it been almost any other artist putting that on a 'blog', no one would have given a shit. Bad judgement on Pete's part as he should know there's a section of the press and public who are going to use that to make inferences about him, but the fact is he didnt relate anything in his 'blog' that was an illegal act.
