jostorm He was never "at it" in the first place, you moron, so less innuendo if you don't mind!? And writing fiction ain't a crime in my book. As a matter of fact I was reading the blog and quite enjoying it.
Personally I think it is fucking pathetic to forbid someone to write fictionally about a 16yearold boy having sex with a girl the same age. Whatever next???
Cut the man some slack!
23rd June 2006 08:38 AM
Gazza as the age of consent is 16, the 'scandal' is what, exactly?

Nothing is so good it lasts eternally
Perfect situations must go wrong
But this has never yet prevented me
Wanting far too much for far too long.
Looking back I could have played it differently
One of few more moments who can tell
But it took time to understand the man
Now at least I know I know him well.
Wasnt it good? oh so good
Wasnt he fine? oh so fine
Isnt it madness he cant be mine?
But in the end he needs
A little bit more than me
More she needs security
He needs his fantasy and freedom
I know him so well

jostorm Totally tasteless humour aside:

Is it not possible that the same person who wrote the opera Tommy (that dealt with a young deaf and dumb boy abused by his Uncle Ernie and the Acid Queen, and generally every adult around him), is also a person who might have suffered himself some type of abuse in childhood?
And, by the same line of thought, may this not predispose this same person to a slight obsession in researching this?
And could he not just be naive enough to have given a credit card for some lurid, dark information?
I personally detest "trial by media".
He looks like a jolly nice and innocent chap to me.
Until proven to be guilty.
It's the whole basis of life as we know it.

glencar Innocent until proven guilty is for courts of law. This guy is a perv in the public eye. Sad, in'nt?

PeerQueer Geez, how anyone could be surprised at his fondness for young male flesh is astounding.

He didn't actually keep it much of a secret until the AIDS scare settled in during the mid-80's, right? Though until that odd run-in he had with the kid porn a few years back, I thought he kept his interests in the of legal age realm.

I still enjoy a good hard 19-20 year old from time to time. Who doesn't?

Rough Boys indeed...

Townshend has actually commented that his motivation for his careless bit of 'internet surfing' a few years back was due to him being abused himself as a child.

Regarding the 'abuse' songs on 'Tommy'. Both "Fiddle About" and "Cousin Kevin" were written not by Townshend, but by John Entwhistle (something overlooked in the media hysteria in Britain when he was initially questioned, with some of the press actually insinuating the 'fact' that he had 'written' a song like 'Fiddle about' being a pretty solid piece of 'evidence' that he had an unhealthy interest in children.). Townshend actually has said that the reason Entwhistle wrote those 2 songs was that he (Pete) couldnt emotionally deal with doing so because the subject matter was too close to home.

Bitch Did Pete write a book about 2 kids having sex, is that what it's about? I didnt know Pete is a novelist! Or were you talking about Tommy? I didn't know all this about Pete until now.

Monkey Woman Uh? Writing a story about a 16-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl having sex becomes "having an odd fixation in young boys"? We must live on planet Cuckoo...
