found this on yahoo news, now is disturbing to me, is that the cover of a new album are they going to play live 8?
Concert organizer Michael Cohl holds a Rolling Stones album cover before announcing the location and artists for the July 2 Live 8 concert in Canada, Tuesday June 21, 2005 in Toronto. Cohl was responding to rumors that the Rolling Stones would take part in the concert, which will be held in Barrie, Ont. simultaneously with atleast eight concerts around the world . The Rolling Stones, who are spending the summer in Toronto practicing for a fall tour, were not announced as part of the lineup, but Cohl -- who has a longstanding relationship with the band -- said there are three more acts to be booked.(AP Photo/CP,Adrian Wyld |

That's just a tour poster, pretty sure that has nothing to do with the album...
That is just a glorified flyer. |

this was when he was hoping they would play........
cohl must have been salivating at the thought;
alas - they let him down. |

I think it's the press kit for the tour.
And I really hope they DON'T play Live 8. It wouldn't do anything for THEM or "the cause", whatever the hell it is.
The Philly Live 8 line-up is the lamest of all of them, but I wouldn't go anyway - a million people on the steps of the Art Museum? No thanks.
That museum ROCKS, by the way. A couple of us went down to catch the last day of the Dali exhibit a few weeks ago. It was...indescribable! I've been there many other times, but this last trip was really mind-boggling. |

Dang. I'm pretty sure I won't be. I can only afford a few of these, and NYC is a priority. I'm still holding on for the January MSG shows - and dare I say it? - The Beacon. |

If that's an album cover I would like to see the turn-table the record is played on.

Who's all on the Toronto bill?
The Spice Girls happen to have a greatest hits album about to come out. Call me cynical about their motives if you like, but you dont think its kinda coincidental they thought of 'reforming' just for Live 8 after about six years?
That Philly line up is hideously embarrassing. Its bad enough watching images of starving people without having to listen to Bon Jovi's inane drivel as well. Thank fuck its on late at night our time. I'll have taped what I want to see from earlier in the day and either be in bed, watching porn or cutting my toenails by that time.
That Cohl picture looks like a tour press kit to me. They're not going to call a studio album "On Stage" for fucks sake. |

Hi all, I'm going to London tomorrow for Live 8, there's no Stones, Tina or Bowie so it won't be in 85's league. Still looking forward to it though!
Cohl turning up at a charity event plugging the Stones' tour is just typical of our Tramp like friend.
Have you seen the start of a Clockwork Orange? He reminds me of the old drunk in the opening scene. 'Can you spare some Cutter, me Brother?' How you can have that much money and look like that I'll never know. |

Sir Paul to top Live8 bill
By Richard Simpson, Daily Mail
28 June 2005
Sir Paul McCartney landed the headline spot at Live 8 after threatening not to perform at all.
The 62-year-old former Beatle told organisers he wanted to open Saturday's Hyde Park concert and close it or he would 'think seriously' about taking part.
They have bowed to his demand and Sir Paul will start the show with a version of Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - reworded to honour the achievements of Bob Geldof - and round it off eight hours later with The Long and Winding Road.
In a compromise to clashing egos, he will share the stage for the opening number with Bono and U2. Both stars and the rest of the band will pay homage to the Sergeant Pepper legend by wearing the multicoloured militarystyle suits the Beatles wore on the 1967 album cover.
A Live 8 source said Sir Paul's headline slot had ruffled a few feathers. 'Some of the more fragile egos are upset,' he said. 'Bono, in particular, was quick to demand a share of the opening number and sees what he has done politically over the years as a bit more relevant to Live 8 than what Paul has to offer. Remember, these are the biggest rock stars around. Whatever order they sing in there is going to be friction.'
Sir Paul's demands may be a reflection of sensitivities arising from two previous affronts.
At Live Aid in 1985, which he also headlined, he performed half of Let It Be with a faulty microphone until engineers fixed the fault.
And last November, producers of the latest Band Aid single said he was too old to sing on it and he was relegated to playing bass guitar.
A spokesman for the star said last night: 'Bob (Geldof) asked him if he would do it, and he is delighted to be taking part in such an important event.'
The show is expected to be seen by billions of television viewers worldwide.

The Paul and Bono egofest!
I think I'll watch Matlock reruns...

good to see he's got his priorities right. Prick.
Still, its the Daily 'we hate everyone' Mail so it MUST be true! |

It still looks like mostly crap to me. Definitely the best of the lot, though.
The whole thing with Paul & U2 rewriting Sgt Pepper for Geldoff and wearing Pepper suits is GAY.
G-A-Y.

JET? feh.
NEIL YOUNG - NOW you're talking.
So what exactly is the deal for how this clusterfuck is going to be televised? I'm afraid I haven't been paying much attention. |

Over here, the deal is that if you live in the UK or Ireland and therefore can get BBC's interactive service which is available on satellite and cable, the broadcasts on BBC 1 and BBC 2 will all be shown on their multi screen set up - and you can pick what shows you want to watch. You wouldnt be able to do that on the 'terrestrial' broadcasts, just on the interactive service. The 'regular' BBC broadcast which everyone can get will simply be showing the entire Hyde Park gig, I presume
(The same system works with major sporting events where there are a few matches going on at once, eg Wimbledon, Ryder Cup etc)
I would imagine that the networks in other countries who have a similar kind of interactive set up would do something similar.

XM satellite radio is broadcasting the show in the US. I dunno about VH1/MTV. It might interfere too much with their "Pimp My Ride" shows. |
