LadyJane Very sad news.
These are the people that do so much work and get so little credit.
Without them, no shows to enjoy.

RIP

Two stage hands die after Rolling Stones Spain gig

MADRID (Reuters) - Two workers died on Friday after part of the set from a Rolling Stones concert collapsed on top of them as they were dismantling it, emergency services said.

A third man was seriously injured after four people fell from a 10-metre (33 ft) structure that gave way as the team helped take it down after Thursday night's concert in Madrid.

Identities of the victims were not given, but about half the workers dismantling the set were English-speaking and traveling with the Rolling Stones tour, emergency services said

nankerphelge That is very sad.

I heard from someone that worked on the Steel Wheels tour that the Stones treat their entire entourage quite well during tours. I would imagine they must be very saddened by this.

Death after Rolling Stones gig
6.24, Fri Jun 29 2007

Two workers died while dismantling the stage following a Rolling Stones gig in Madrid, Spanish police have said.

Two other members of the crew were also hurt in the incident at the Vicente Calderon stadium and are now being treated in hospital.

The Rolling Stones issued a statement saying: "The fatal accident occurred during the dismantling of The Rolling Stones stage, following a concert given by the group the evening before.

"The Rolling Stones, who were informed of the tragedy this afternoon, were deeply saddened by the news.

"Their heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery go out to the injured and their profound sympathies to the families of the deceased."

Local police said three of the men fell 10m from one metal structure to another.

The dead men were aged 38 and 44. One worked for Belgian building firm Stage Co and the other was a Spanish contractor.

The Rolling Stones are in the middle of the European leg of their A Bigger Band world tour.

Gazza A third stagehand injured in the accident isnt expected to pull through, unfortunately. One of the guys was from Denmark and the others were Spanish (not sure which two of the three are the guys who died). Several crew members who witnessed it had to receive counselling.

Strange_Stray_Cat Dutch radio ran a story on it yesterday. They had one of the crew members on the show by phone. The flew in another crew to help break down the stage.
