Noted divorce lawyer named chairman of judicial conduct panel
June 26, 2006
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) _ The lawyer who represented former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani in his divorce from Donna Hanover has been elected chairman of the state commission that polices the ethics of New York judges, officials said Monday.
Manhattan divorce attorney Raoul Lionel Felder takes over as head of the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct from Alan Pope, a Binghamton lawyer who resigned last month in the face of a complaint against a judge that involved members of Pope's law firm.
Felder was elected chairman by the commission last week.
In recent years, he has represented Brazilian model Luciana Morad in her paternity suit against Rolling Stone Mick Jagger, actress Carol Channing and David Gest, the former husband of entertainer Liza Minnelli.
Felder was first appointed to the commission in 2003 by Gov. George Pataki. He will serve a renewable two-year term.
Rochester-area town justice and attorney Thomas Klonick was elected as the commission's vice chairman. |
