jb That's b/c Neal Young, like Celine Dion, is Canadian.
06-24-03 12:13 PM
nankerphelge moonie I knew AC/DC would be the icing on the cake for you (and maybe Pammy too!).

MUST GO TO TORONTO!!!
06-24-03 12:20 PM
parmeda I'll say it again, "FUCK!"
06-24-03 12:22 PM
nankerphelge Don't say "fuck"

Say "what the fuck!"
06-24-03 12:27 PM
jb What a purtrid line-up. I shall not attend.
06-24-03 12:30 PM
Miss U. I know JB, but remember, 2-3 acts still have to be confirmed.

I don't know if you've ever heard Sass Jordan but she rocks!! ACDC isn't too bad.
06-24-03 12:32 PM
parmeda This definately changes the game plan.
And I say "fuck" as in, "Oh fuck, this is killing me!" lol

jb, sure most of the line up sucks...but for the Stones & AC/DC at the same time? I'll probably arrive late and and work my way thru the crowd. Most of them will be too drunk & stupid to realize I zipped past 'em. LOL... there is a way, and I know the tricks
06-24-03 12:38 PM
Miss U. Right on, Pammy!
So who else is going? It's strange so few of you will say yay or nay.
06-24-03 12:39 PM
LadyJane Pammy--Should I order the "2003 U.S.R.O. Ladies Mick Jumping Team" tee-shirts???

LadyJ.
06-24-03 12:41 PM
Miss U. LoL, LJ!! Yeah, we definitely need one of those. Right in the front row, imagine poor Mick. But what pic to choose?
06-24-03 12:51 PM
parmeda Hey, I still have my flashing devil horns from the STIFF UPPER LIP Tour, lmao

...anyone else?
06-24-03 12:54 PM
LadyJane We would definitely get Mick's attention!!!

I can see it now.......RO ladies interviewed on CBC news!!

Reporter: "Explain what exactly your shirt implies?"

LJ: "We represent Rocks Off....the greatest Rolling Stones Message Board. We also love Mick and have formed this group to show our outrage at the lack of female undergarments thrown at him in Germany."

LMAO.

jb Pam, as you know, I routinely sit in the first 5 rows for Stones concerts. Given the nature of this event, I will not be able to use my broker to ensure premium seating. Thus, I would be left sitting a mile away from the stage, which is unacceptable. To have to listen to Justin T. and the other horrific acts would be beyond my ability. The Stones never cease to amaze me in their poor marketing of these events...the fact that they can't get good, young talent to open for them is somewhat puzzling. The opening acts this entire tour have sucked with the exception of AC/DC and The Pretenders.
06-24-03 01:19 PM
Miss U. LJ, you need to change the U.S.R.O. to something more international.
Hey, men can throw their undies too, lol.
OK, this is my last post for the day...I'm so excited, lol.
[Edited by Miss U.]
06-24-03 01:30 PM
LadyJane You are right. N.A.R.O. would be more appropriate....N.A. being North American, of course!!

Oh, I know exactly how you feel Josh. Ive been spoiled too when it comes to hooking up with great seats. I dont have my plans etched in stone just yet...I still need to pass this by the ol boy later tonight. So, if you happen to hear this loud explosion around 7pm, due NW...that would be him, lol.
AC/DC has always been my #2 next to the Stones. I would only be going there because of them. The others, I could give a rats ass if I ever see them perform. But, you know me, Ill work the crowd to my advantage, yes I will I hesitate only for the reason that Im getting too old to fight these bitches, lol. It was fun back in '78...do the math, LOL.
06-24-03 03:00 PM
telecaster jb Toronto would be a good excuse for you to get away with you know who.

Pam, Mr. Pam, and myself are driving there in a circa 1960's
VW hippie van and will be partying like it is 1969
Not sure how the border crossing will go yet.

jb just show up, walk to the front 5 rows and flash some kid
a couple Ben Franklins for his spot. He will move and you will be where you should be

steel driving hammer Nice article on Toronto from IORR...

"For a Stones fan I would think this to be the worst venue possible. For all the whining about acoustics and nosebleed seats this will bottom you out. If you go , go with the intent of going to an "event" not a Stones show.

I have been to a show with 600,000+. Drive to it you say, and park where? Got to use a john, plan an hour ahead, see half of one act standing in line, people will be sitting on top of the john for a better view. Have I mentioned the humidity? How will you eat, keep hydrated, plan well ahead. Take lots of money, once your there you will pay through the nose for basic needs. Think you will get a view, so do 600,00 others, get one... don't get up. Once in the middle how do you get out.

When I went to Watkins Glen the guys infront of me emptied their cooler to fill with Schlitz. They started walking up and down the row of cars, did I mention we were stuck in an 11 mile traffic jam in 90 degree heat, he was flogging a slice of balogne for $1.50 (1973), people laughed till he said he went to Woodstock and tommorrow you would pay $3.00, he sold out on the spot. In 73 it was peace and love, I have'nt been impressed with the croud behavior reported at recent large venues.

Large events sound interesting but I swore them off, they can be a tale of survival not music. For me it's reseved seating, air conditioned, beer gardens and good music I can see and hear. But hey.....Enjoy."

Toronto is ready to party
Stones headline massive SARS concert
By ROB GRANATSTEIN, TORONTO SUN

Goodbye Pope-stock, hello Stones-stock. The
Rolling Stones will headline a massive nine-hour
SARS benefit concert on Wednesday, July 30 at
Downsview Park, the same site where the Pope held
mass for 800,000 people last year.

Toronto can always get what we want.

"We're very happy to tell you we're coming to play
on July 30 in a great concert for the people and city
of Toronto to help bring back the energy to our
favourite city," Stones singer Mick Jagger said in a
videotaped statement.

The Stones will interrupt their European tour and
cancel a concert to fly across the Atlantic for the
special gig to help Toronto's SARS-scarred
economy.

It's a huge gig -- including AC/DC, The Guess Who,
Justin Timberlake, Sam Roberts, The Flaming Lips,
Kathleen Edwards, The Isley Brothers, Sass Jordan
and La Chicane -- and organizers promise they're
not done yet, although they wouldn't comment on
rumours of who else will be added.

The bash will be hosted by Dan Aykroyd and Jim
Belushi and organizers hope to draw 300,000
revellers, including 100,000 from outside Ontario.

Tickets go on sale Friday for $21.50 plus service
charges at Ticketmaster. Starting July 4, tickets can
also be purchased at A&P and Dominion stores in
Ontario.

Tickets will sell south of the border for $16 US.

Deputy Prime Minister John Manley said the concert is the medicine
Toronto needs to get back on its feet after SARS battered the economy,
forcing thousands of hospitality workers into unemployment.

"This is the day we tell the world Toronto is back," he said.

SARS in Toronto now stands for See the Amazing Rolling Stones in
Toronto and Manley's hoping that will mean Americans will flood into town
for the concert.

'BRING THEM ON'

"Let this be the biggest invasion of Canada from the United States since
the war of 1812," he said. "Bring them on!"

Promoter Steve Howard is promising a "very big rock show" complete with
a massive stage, huge video screens and top notch sound system.

Mayor Mel Lastman declared July 30 Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto
Day, and he and Molson president Dan O'Neill urged the city's offices to
close early that Wednesday to allow their employees to take in the
once-in-a-lifetime event.

One of the driving forces behind the concert, Sen. Jerry Grafstein, thinks
the concert will be a turning point for Toronto.

"People do not believe politicians, they do not believe doctors," Grafstein
said. "But they will believe when they see the Stones coming here that this
is a good and healthy place to be.

"We will be successful if we have a picture of 300,000 or 400,000 people
at a concert without masks," Grafstein said.

Imelda Basilio, a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn in Toronto said the
concert is a step in helping out hospitality workers.

"It's only one day, not every day," she said. "But it helps. It's a good idea."

sirmoonie Seriously, how come none of you guys are pissed off that the Stones are anti-SARS? That global warming deal had some of you peeing in your tube socks.

It's been reported that 300,000 tickets are available. Whether that's total or initial is yet to be determined.
Waste facilities are calculated by estimated number of people and hectares.

Does it really matter? There's never enough.

Will they get their own private stall?
