The good news is that even Plant can't hit those cat-schreech notes that he did 30yrs ago.
He couldn't hit those notes then. I saw them once in 1975 and Planty could not stretch it out then.

Take that out of the mix, and I think it has all the makings of a great show.

It will KILL!

Can you imagine what will crawl our of the woodwork for this???

Here I come!

Page and Plant's last US show was in Memphis at The Pyramid and it was incredible. When Pagey is on he's really on. I get chills remembering that night. So long ago......

Hope it happens. ;-)

Ten Thousand Motels Led Zeppelin's Welsh inspiration
Jun 25 2007

THE LYRICS to Led Zeppelin’s most famous rock song were inspired by the Welsh hills, according to a forthcoming book on the band.

Writer Pauline Bowen, from Aberystwyth, a life-long Led Zep fan, says the supergroup’s most-played hit Stairway to Heaven reflected experiences the band had while staying in “Artists’ Valley” in Mid Wales. And now the song could enjoy a renaissance in popularity as the group are reportedly following in the footsteps of The Police and heading for a lucrative reunion.

Surviving members singer Robert Plant, 58, bassist John Paul Jones, 61 and guitarist Jimmy Page, 63, are said to be planning a world tour following a memorial concert as a tribute to the late Atlantic Records chief Ahmet Ertegen.

Music industry sources say the band would be joined on the tour by Jason Bonham, drummer son of the group’s original “stick man” John Bonham, who died aged 32 after a marathon drinking session.

It is thought a Led Zep reunion could bring in even more than The Rolling Stones’ Bigger Bang tour which grossed that group £200m.

Bowen is working on a book called Led Zeppelin Memories which will explore the band’s Welsh connections.

She claims that Robert Plant came up with the lyrics to Stairway to Heaven, while the band were staying at a farm near Machynlleth.

After a hectic 15-month world tour in 1970, the group decamped to Bron-yr-Aur, a remote cottage with no gas or electricity near Machynlleth.

The group members would occasionally book a room at the nearby Glyndwr Hotel to have a hot bath and also played a number of unscheduled gigs for local people in small halls.

Bowen says Robert Plant developed a fascination with Welsh culture, especially rebel leader Owain Glyndwr.

The multi-millionaire singer has donated money to the Celtica museum in Machynlleth and also unveiled a statue of the iconic Glyndwr in Pennal.

Bowen said, “Led Zeppelin were absolutely massive in America and I have had interest from fans over there wanting to know about Welsh folklore and the band’s connections with this part of the world.

“Places like Bron-yr-Aur, in Aberllefeni, are visited quite regularly by fans wanting to see where the inspiration for these songs came from.”

The band named a song on the Led Zeppelin III album after the farmhouse. It was called Bron-yr-Aur Stomp and Bowen believes the mystical, philosophical lyrics of Stairway to Heaven were also influenced by Robert’s surroundings in Artists’ Valley.

Lyrics such as “In the tree by the brook there’s a songbird who sings” and “The forest will echo with laughter” contribute to the theory.

Robert Plant has also spoken about his love of the Welsh forests and left Bowen in no doubt that this was a key inspiration for the song.

She said, “They would come to this part of Wales with a lorry carrying food, drink and instruments and sit around the fire writing songs.”

Stairway to Heaven, said to be the most played song on American FM radio, even though it was not released as a single there, was on the group’s untitled fourth album.

FotiniD Plant is playing Greece this Friday and I can't go because the wonderful promoter that was to bring the Stones as well has arranged for him to play in a field about one and a half hour outside Athens with transportation that sucks (why? oh cause it's cheaper for them, they own the damn field...). Got no car, driving license or friends that want to go, and I've been waiting to see Plant since his last gig in 2001

So the reunion news are GOOD. I hope they do keep it together and embark on a world tour... I have visions of seeing them in the Olympic Stadium, *sigh*...

(Pretentious? Yeah. Arrogant? Hell yeah! But still I love my Zep )

polytoxic This would be big fun but if they do actually get it together I would hope they'd lose the sentimentality, drop Bonham's kid and do it proper with Dave Grohl..
