christijanus Stones tour to start in FEB 05

By bother-in-law works for a music company in NYC who represent such bands as cold play and dido. He told me that last week Jerry Barad who works for Clear Channel-Toronto was in his office(this guy books all of the Stones tours) and knowing that I'm a huge Stones fan my bother-in-law ask him what was going on with the band. Jerry said that a major tour will start in FEB 05 over seas.

I also have a good friend who is good friends with Tony Russell. While on the phone the other night with Tony my friend was put on hold by Tony to take a call from Pierre Keith's guitar tech.

These two thing together with the renewal of the fan club mean that a Stones tour will start sooner than later.

Lord Sinclair Sounds good to me. I'll just have to trust the info for now, but was there any talk of a big surprise like Wyman joing the tour?

Gazza Where's "overseas" ? It depends where the guy posted it is from!

presuming he lives in North America, then going by the time of year that would tie in with South America, which has been rumoured to be a starting point for a Stones tour for early '05 even before the last one finished.

jb Do you really think they would start the tour in South America? I don't think it would work in terms of generating the interest and media hype as what occurs in the states...

Gazza Thats the only factor - it wouldnt get the worldwide publicity as a US tour - well,maybe it wouldnt in terms of US coverage because in Europe when the Stones announce and then start a tour anywhere it gets a lot of media coverage, even though its on another continent.

However, a South American tour would really only probably last 2-3 weeks anyway

Lord Sinclair Yes, I like that idea best. Have the South American promoters foot the bill, play the big soccer stadiums, basic merchandise stands, then head North for the big payoff.

Anyone ever hear of the Stones playing South Africa?

jb Plus, I recall Cohl stating that the tour does not make money until almost 1/2 way through....wouldn't they need the funds generated by the US part of the tour to get things going?

Main Offender Look at the line-up of people this guy reports - Tony Russell (Keith's driver), Pierre de Beauport (Keith's tech person).This could also be the beginning of a Wino's thing. Pierre got writing credits on "Main Offender".
