Topic: When a Stones song helps a politician do his job Return to archive

Monkey Woman Just found this unexpected Stones mention from an (otherwise boring) interview with Jacques Etchegoyhen, 45, Douglas County commissioner..

To the question "What is your favorite song?", several answers incluing this:

"'Sympathy for the Devil', by the Rolling Stones, just before a county commission meeting, when Mick Jagger reminds me , 'Learn politics or I'll lay your soul to waste'"

F505 Wasn't Bill Clinton who called in Fleetwood Mac?

jb They sang "Don't stop thinking about tomorrow" at either his first or second inaguration party?

F505 You're right again JB:

The classic Fleetwood Mac lineup of Fleetwood, the McVies, Buckingham and Nicks reunited to play President Bill Clinton's inauguration in early 1993, but the concert did not lead to a full-fledged reunion. Later that year, Nicks left the band and was replaced by Bekka Bramlett and Dave Mason; Christine McVie left the group shortly afterward. The new lineup of Fleetwood Mac began touring in 1994, releasing Time the following year to little attention.

Joey

Fleetwood Mac recently had to cancel a couple of concerts because Stevie Nicks' had a bad cold .

Personally , I recently had to go to the bathroom and pee .
