jpenn11 Sway by Taylor and Olson is great. They also did a fine version of Silver Train.

Get Off My Cloud by Alex Korner, with Richards and Marriott or Frampton or both

Some time ago, someone here posted "Honky Tonk Women", a collection of RS covers by women. Tutti Nero was fun.

"Start Me Up" by Alice Cooper, and there seems to be 2 versions or different mixes of this 2-minute live performance...have not seen the official release of the video where it comes from, but there is an mp3 of this someplace, and the uTube version which also features Roger Daltry with mostly backing vocals - its great to see these two, esp. Alice improvising "if you rough me up, I slide it up, slide it up..."

Its funny that Mr.Daltry also appeared in an Alice tribute album with vocals on "No More Mr.Nice Guy" - which was understood to be insprired by "Substitite" in the first place.

The one at YouTube was uploaded for me as per JJF-USA request, this is it, Alice and Roger playing SMU

a great version!!

I love Ronnies 1st album

Izzy Stradlin does a rockin cover of "Take A Look At The Guy" w/Mr. Wood himself dueting on it

throwaway, have you heard the Crowes doing "Cancel Everything"?
15th June 2007 01:11 PM
Throwaway Witnessed it in Philly '05, gave me goosebumps. I got a good version from another 05 show thats great too.

And though I'm not sure which version came first, but Rod Stewart's version of "Big Bayou" may just be better than Ronnie's.

Is that "Down in the Hole" available on iTunes? I always thought the Stones could pull that one off live if they gave it some swampy guitars and howling blues harp..
15th June 2007 01:20 PM
Saint Sway I was at that same Philly show!!!
15th June 2007 01:43 PM

doo doo doo Dude Was never a huge fan of Phish, but they always did a great version of "Loving Cup"
15th June 2007 03:12 PM
Ronnie Richards Springsteen has done both The Last Time, Street Fighting Man and Honky Tonk Women. Tho only live - never recorded in studio.

Anyway - the greatest Stones cover of all time is undoubtely Satisfaction by Otis Redding.
15th June 2007 03:14 PM
Lord (Hetero) IMO the best cover ever done of a Stone song is Alvin Youngblood's "Moonlight Mile". It so gorgeous. And the original is supposed to be unbeatable; but he paints a whole new picture - as beautiful as the Stones'.
Leon Russell's JJF is great.
To me there are just TOO MANY Dead Flowers and HTW floating around, for me to consider any of them anymore. Maybe Humble Pie's HTW counts. But every yodler this side of Nashville has done "Dead Flowers".
Lindsey Buckingham did a pretty good rendition of "I am waiting" on his last album.
And I don't know if it's a cover, but Marianne;s version of "Sister Morphine" rules. Another not-so-cover (but good) is the orchestral version of "Angie" with Jagger singing.

Dan Here's another great one, Faster Pussycat doing IORR live in 2003, only known version. Much better than the version the STones have been playing the last several tours.

Lord (Hetero) Good clip of Bowie and the Master Ronson. That was a good Bowie time.
Faster Pussycat one of the bands that earns covering the Stones.

Saint Sway I really like Janes Addictions version of Sympathy

I Got The Blues - Solomon Burke
Down Home Girl - Old Crow Medicine Show
Sway - Alejandro Escaveda (this is my all-time favorite Stones cover)
Evening Gown - Alejandro Escaveda
Heart Of Stone - Allmans Brothers
Sweet Virginia - Ronnie Lane
Stray Cat Blues - North Mississippi All Stars
19th Nervous Breakdown - Jason & The Scorchers
Out Of Time - The Ramones

Connection - Montrose
You Got The Silver - Susan Tedeschi
Before They Make Me Run - Steve Earle & Supersuckers
Dead Flowers - Steve Earle

jend The 101ers doing Out OF Time (but I'm biased)
16th June 2007 03:08 AM
Navin "Mystifies Me" also covered by Ian McLagan on Troublemaker

And Mr. Wyman also recorded "Down Home Girl" on his recent solo release with the Rhythm Kings

"Street Fighting Man" by Rod Stewart on his solo debut also because Mr. Wood makes his appearance.

"Jumpin Jack Flash" (1986 version) by Aretha Franklin mainly because two great guitar players are backing her

"Beast of Burden" by Bette Midler only because Mr. Jagger makes an appearance (only on the video!)

17th June 2007 01:56 AM
VoodooChileInWOnderl Hey Negrita by Ronnie Wood

17th June 2007 12:18 PM
VoodooChileInWOnderl Melody by Bill Wyman and his RK (also uploaded by this voodoo child)
