" The Who have confirmed that they will appear at this year's Live 8 event in London's Hyde Park. The event and the subsequent walk to the G8 summit near Edinburgh, is aimed at focusing world leaders attention on the plight of Africa, and will take place on July 2nd. Tickets for the show are only available by a phone text lottery, details of which can be found here: live8.com
The band's involvement was announced by organiser Bob Geldof on tonight's Jonathon Ross TV show in the UK. "

Why are they not letting Americans get tickets for this?
I've been wanting to break my piggy bank and go to Europe on a student-package deal for a while, now... if I could get in to this, I'd be packing my bags. McCartney, The Who, and the reconstituted Floyd (I'm not a huge fan, but I know hell freezing over when I see it)... at this point I'm expecting the Stones to announce they're playing with just themselves, Darryl, Bobby, and Ian MacLagan, doing new songs, old covers, and lots of unannounced theatre shows... |

I agree when people say Keith in the last 10 years became lazier than ever, as well as Ron posing onstage, but I think it's due to the role they put on Leavell's hands. Of course it's Mick/Keith's fault, but I'm bloody sure that if it wasn't for Leavell's, they would be forced play their arses off goddamnit!

Yeah , Great Question Jumping Jack !!!! I'm sort of surprised Zak hasn't kicked the living SH## out of one of those Gallagher Brothers yet . Obviously he has agreed to play for THE WHO otherwise there is no way in Hell Roger & Pete would ' sign on ' to perform before such a HUGE audience .

That Hyde Park line up is awesome. How long is each band going to have on stage? Will it be a case of 2 or 3 songs per act? The Floyd could do Echoes all 20 odd minutes of it, then finish up with Shine on you crazy diamonds pts 1 & 2, Roger better not stand too close to the microphone if he doesn't want the audience to hear him gnashing his teeth at his old pal Dave |

That concert for NY was a shame. The Who really womped the audience good.
And poor Keith didnt even get introduced!
I still shudder at McCartney though. What an opportunist. I cringe every time i think of the "Grand finale" of his fantastic song "Freedom". The cheese was set to 11.
By the time he said "Another solo Eric?", for the what seemed like 20th time, i nearly kicked the tv in.

I musta seen a different show. Daltrey's voice was horrid. I liked them despite that but it simply is wrong to say the Who did any ass-kicking that night. Well, okay, they kicked Macca's ass. So did EJ! |
