The father's day helped a lot it seems, Forty Licks went 19-11 on the UK charts and barely missed a return to the top 10. |

Yes, but before the Euro-leg of the tour
starts, and the complaints begin about
setlists, I was just reminding us all
that as long as our boys play the largest
possible venues, they will know that a certain
percentage of the audience just purchased 40 Licks
within the past 40 days and are expecting to hear
a lot of those songs.

I'd seriously doubt that too many of the 200,000 ++ people in the UK who spent up to £150 on a concert ticket in the last six months would have only availed themselves of the band's greatest hits album for the first time in the last few weeks, in all honesty - especially as its been out for almost four years and they toured behind it some 3 years ago
Whilst people will 'expect' to hear a smattering of those songs, its ironic that the Stones have chosen to rely more heavily on them for this tour than they did on the previous tour when they were promoting the album. I dont think it'll kill people to buy their new album as theyd expect to hear songs from it also (hence the name of the tour) - nor would it be too much to expect Virgin to get behind it instead of flogging an old compilation to death

Very true!
...and I'll go see them, with or without warhorses.

Released in 2002 and reached No2 in UK.
Virgin actively re-promoting 40 LIcks and entered UK Album chart at 23 then 19 and now 11 in 2006.
The songs on this album highlight just how awesome and talented the band called the 'Rolling Stones' are.
Their talent as songwriters and musicians has been long overlooked in comparison to the highly aclaimed Live concerts that they have been renowned for for over 40 years.
Really good music lasts the test of time and the 'Stones' longetivity on record (1st charted 1963 - to 2006 and still going)
is a reflection of how great this bunch of skinny english cats really are. |

So the Brits really are a somewhat loyal audience after all! |

we're slow to buy their records and tickets - but we get there in the end! |

Perhaps Europe, and Great Britain in particular, finally realize that time is no longer on the Stones side, and want to one again embrace a band they long ago abandoned. |
