Lazy Bones
Stones recording new tracks with
Don Was

By JAM! Music

The Rolling Stones have been cramming in
recording sessions as they prepare for their
upcoming tour.

The group's official fanclub website
(www.rollingstones.com) reports that the band
and producer Don Was -- who worked with The
Stones on "Voodoo Lounge," "Stripped" and
"Bridges To Babylon" -- have been holed up in
a Paris recording studio.

"Word has it a number of tracks were recorded,
and perhaps two of these new songs will be
included on the forthcoming Greatest Hits CD,
due later this year," rollingstones.com said.

Keyboardist Chuck Leavell and bassist Darryl
Jones joined the group for the sessions.

The group will visit Toronto's Air Canada
Centre on Oct. 16 and the SkyDome on Oct.
18, and Montreal's Molson Centre on Jan. 8 of
next year. Among the tour's opening acts will be
Sheryl Crow and No Doubt.

Along with the planned best-of album, ABKCO
Records, which controls the group's releases
through the '60s and up to (but not including)
1971's "Sticky Fingers", has unveiled plans for
their "Rolling Stones Remastered" series: 22
albums, including such titles as "Let It Bleed,"
"Out Of Our Heads," "December's Children,"
"Beggars Banquet," "12x5", and "Rolling Stones
Now." (More on The Rolling Stones)

nankerphelge Kind of interesting that they went with Don Was again -- especially after the producer-stew that was B2B. Is this a tacit admission that VL and Stripped had the goods? I thought so...

L&A I like Don Was, but Rick Rubin with the Stones could be great ...

Cant Catch Me Even better than Was Not Was is the Orquestra Was release "Forever's A Long Long Time" (or was it just a "Long Time?") on Verve.
It's a funky, silky R&B tribute to Hank Williams, with the excellent Peabo Bryson, I think, singing most of it. He sang on a lot of Was Not Was stuff. But on one track Merle Haggard sings, and it's great.
