tom_blackwell0 This will be the last time I post on this site

Bill Wyman has agreed to play bass Guitar on 5 (Five) new Rolling Stones songs which will appear on the forthcoming new album.

Virgin records are also trying to persuade Wyman to play Bass guitar on the tour which will preceed the album. It is rumoured that he has been offerd in the region of 25 million dollars to play on the tour.

Wyman was orginaly reluctant to tour. I havent been told anymore yet. However. I get the feeling that he will almost certainly want to tour after he finnishes recording.

This is so obviously a big publicity stunt by the band to sell records.
They know they will recapture the fans they lost when Wyman left and the news coverage can only help matters.

Also
Mick Taylor and Ronnie Wood have written a song together which MIGHT feature in the recording sessions and Taylor is set to guest appear on the tour.

Believe me or not
Im going to work.

Gazza >They know they will recapture the fans they lost when Wyman left

I didnt realise theyd lost ANY fans after Bill left. The first post-Bill album (Voodoo Lounge) was their biggest hit album in over a decade and the tour that followed it was (and still is) the biggest grossing tour in history.

Bill doesnt like the Stones music anymore. He shouldn't be asked back or it makes him (and them) complete hypocrites.

Moonisup well it would be nice if bill came back! a lot more swing will come back in the numbers! But if it's true, we don't know, it will be the last time.

Bil has got:
'no more fear of flying'

correct....but technically , this tour was IMHO overratted...they lost something when BW left, sound was muddy and pityful. I know many of you have really appreciate this tour, but it was my first Stones show and a big disappointement for me...

I would be glad to see him on stage with the boys...the rythm section of our fav band is priceless, i mean this mix between rigidity and groove ...Darryl is a good player, but so predictable and boring...

to conclude: I know, it s only Marketing but I like it!!

cheers

For a guy whos supposedly about to record with the Stones, he has a busy schedule for most of the rest of the year!
17th June 2004 09:52 AM
egon Stop being sceptical!!!!

FRESH INFO – JUST IN!!!

I have a grandfather who does not work, nor has ever worked for the stones.

according to his info, the stones are NOT in a studio in Paris, or in any other city for that matter.

He says that changes for a new album to come out still this year are 50/50, where as for a new tour it's something like 20/50.

He does think that mick taylor will join the band should they ask him, but only after he's done cutting my granddad’s lawn.

As for mick jagger health; my granddad is concerned.
mick doesn't seem to be very well, since lately he delivers the meals on wheels later than usual and cold.

Charlie who apparently lives next to my granddad under the fake name piet jansen, seems to be practising a lot on his drums at the moment. However, even after calling the police several times during the night, he does not want to stop. This of course is a sign that he is eager to go on tour.

Clearly something is GOING to happen (apart from my granddad’s prostate operation), but for the moment no one knows what exactly. but rest assure, my granddad will be there as the events occure!

One funny thing though, when I left he said; "Who the fuck is keith richards and… who the fuck are you?!"

not really sure what that meant, but the other info is pretty exciting wouldn't you say?

17th June 2004 09:55 AM
scratched Now this sounds more plausible.
17th June 2004 09:56 AM
egon but of course, it's my granddad!
17th June 2004 10:00 AM
scratched Does he work for a "very reputable British music magazine"? Also, how "high profile" are his contacts?

Oh get me!

Wyman hates to fly. It's one of the reasons he gave for quitting the Stones. And how would EVER Keith let him back in?

As said, I don't think the Stones lost fans due to Wyman...

And now, the band with the two bassists, three guitarists, two singers (well) and only one, let me say, one drummer ladies and gentlemen... Pleeeeeease! This post is getting ridiculous.

Give me one good reason why a "music critic" would come on a board, sign up, say he's got insider information, refuse to reveal it, then reveal it without much convincing efforts with his next post (the Wyman thing) and then say he's not coming back.

Amongst the ten thousand reasons why I can't wait for the next Stones album there's one called "stopping the hype". Yes, indeed, they should call it "Rumours".

And by the way, I ONLY trust Egon's grandad lol

100% genuine.
I have a liitle more infromation about the album which you guys will love. Im not sure wether it would be a good idea for me to say anything yet though. I must be one of only 20 people that know this secret and if it gets out. Its very easy to find out who leaked it.
Its worth waiting for guys.

so if its so risky for you to post this big secret, why did you then proceed to do exactly that a few minutes later in THIS thread?

If you were a journalist, you'd be running off with your 'exclusive' to some tabloid who'd probably pay you handsomely for such a big "scoop" rather than posting it here for nothing.

It almost sounded plausible for a few seconds until you started talking about Woody and Taylor writing a song together....

17th June 2004 10:22 AM
Gazza >I really hope this is true.

I dont!

Tour with someone who bitches about them and says he cant stand their music?

Christ, how desperate are we?

Good luck to Bill with his solo projects, dont get me wrong, but as far as the Stones go, he's burned his bridges. I doubt Keith would be too keen for starters.

I've no objection to Bill or Mick T etc making guest appearances when the occasion arises - in fact it'd be very nice - but theyve been out of the band - by their own choice - for 12 and 29 years respectively. Maybe Mick T will show up when asked this time, like he almost did for the soundcheck at the Astoria last year.

Enough nostalgia. Time waits for no one. Lets have a NEW Stones album full of cracking new songs showcasing the Stones in 2004.

Agree! What we need is new material and I really don't mind whether Wyman / Taylor make an appearance or not - as long as we have the Stones writing and performing great songs, that's more than enough for me!
