Not so bon for Bon Jovi

Gossip mill abuzz after hairbag cheese factory skips L.A. Reid birthday party

By MIKE BELL -- Calgary Sun

If you're going to miss the boss' birthday bash you better have a good excuse.

During a recent party to celebrate music mogul L.A. Reid's 48th, noticeably absent from the throng of partyers which included Mariah Carey, Kanye West and Sean Combs, was mulletted cheese factory Jon Bon Jovi.

That got folks whispering and one source told the New York Daily News Bon Jovi skipped the shindig because he was miffed about the bossman's creative input into his upcoming collection of homogenized, wiffle bat rock ballads.

"L.A. wasn't satisfied with Bon Jovi's new album," the source said. "He didn't believe it had a radio hit. So -- just like they did with Mariah -- he sent Jon back into the studio."

And as everyone knows, Jon doesn't take criticism kindly unless it's coming from a confrontational, potty-mouthed hand puppet.

Reid, on the other hand, told the paper Jon was pulling a Millie Vanilli -- i.e. blaming it on the rain.

"Jon called to say he couldn't make it to the party because of the weather," Reid told the paper. "He had to fly in a helicopter (from his New Jersey estate)."

Fair enough -- I'd love to see an end to human suffering, but nobody wants it to happen thanks to a chopper's nosedive into the Hudson.

As for reports he was unhappy with the album, Reid put a different spin on it.

"I'm always sending people back to the studio," says Reid. "But Jon sent himself back. Jon had just finished the album when I got (to the label). He wasn't so knocked out by it.

"So he worked on it some more and he really pulled it out."

Who knew the man behind such timeless gems as Dyin' Ain't Much of A Livin' and Blame It On the Love of Rock & Roll would have much of a conscience when it came to releasing subpar slop.

Fans will have to wait until September to hear the perfection.

Ten Thousand Motels Is Jon BonJovi Cool? If not why not?
June 14th, 2005 10:47 PM
exile I have no idea who keeps buying his fucking records

Bon Jovi should have gone the same way as EUROPE, POISON, and all those other hair bands of the 80's.

I had a neighbour a while back who was a Bon Jovi freak. It is terrible music, really bad, it tries so hard to be cool music.

Someone asked is Bon Jovi Cool? about as cool as a turd in your underwear!
June 14th, 2005 10:52 PM
Ten Thousand Motels Well, if the music sux that can explain alot. But there are uncool people who make good music too.

Living on Sprayed Hair

Once upon a time
Not so long ago

Johnny used to work on the docks
but his hair got all messy
he was down on his luck...it’s tough, so tough
Richie bugs his barber all day
Gimme a mullet, whatever.. I’ll pay
For love - for love

He says we’ve got to hold on to what we’ve got
’cause it doesn’t make a difference
If our band’s good or not
We’ve got our hair and that’s a lot
For love - we’ll give it a shot

Chorus:
Whooah, we’re half way there
Livin’ on sprayed hair
Take my brush and we’ll make it - I swear
Livin’ on sprayed hair

Tico’s gotten fat as a pig,
Can’t play his drums, so he eats taco’s instead
mouth too full to talk - it’s tough
Johnny dreams of being so gay,
When he cries in the night
Richie whispers baby it’s okay, someday…

We’ve got to hold on to what we’ve got
’cause it doesn’t make a difference
If our song’s good or not
We’ve got our hair and that’s a lot
For love - we’ll give it a shot

Chorus

We’ve got to hold on ready or not
You live for the spray when it’s all that you’ve got

Chorus

For Richie:

Gazza I should clarify that I was only being flippant with my Lynyrd Skynyrd remark

I wouldnt wish death on Bon Jovi by any means.

I'd just settle for some kind of ailment that would render them unable to write and sing - and an outbreak of alopecia.

A totally hairless JBJ would be quite hilarious.

Soon "The Who" live July 2.
June 15th, 2005 10:18 PM
HellsRollingThunder How about AC/DC or Metallica? From what I understand Keith
hates Rap music!

Next to the Greatest Rock and Roll Band The Rolling Stones,
who would you say is after the Stones? What group or artist
do you think would be #2?

Also I wonder what kind of music each of the Stones really
likes to listen to when they are relaxing at home, or whatever?

I'm sorry Joey but macca-bashing is a spiritual-religious-trancendent experience, very edifying and purifying for the soul.
