Sir Stonesalot >I can afford one but don't see the need.<

Yeah, it depends on what you would use it for.

For me, the thing is a godsend. I don't have to stare at my wall of CDs for 15 minutes trying to figure out what I want to take along. Mostly, I just use it like a jukebox. I hit shuffle play and let it go. Currently I have 11,255 songs...and it will play in shuffle mode for 29.7 days without repeating a song!! I still have room for a couple thousand more...

The neat thing about it is that I don't have to put entire albums on it. If I have an album and I only like 3 or 4 songs...those are the only song I load up. This makes it nice when you hit shuffle...only songs that you really like will play. Best radio station ever! Or, if you are going to a party, you can whip up a specific play list in no time, plug it into the stereo and let it rock. It's super slick. I use it in the car too. Why bother with crappy commercial radio stations(no offense Riffy...)who might play a song a day that you don't dislike...when you can have a little gizmo the size of a cigarette pack play songs for 29.7 days and never play a dud!

The iPod is a great little gadget. I'll post my most played list tomorrow...I'm at work right now, and don't have it with me.

glencar Stuff like that last post makes me see shy I might want this thing...
15th June 2006 08:10 PM
Sir Stonesalot I resisted getting one. In fact, if someone hadn't bought me one...I probably still wouldn't have one. I almost went and exchanged the thing for something else. I'm glad I didn't. I gave it a shot. And now I wouldn't know what to do without it.

Glenny, I swear by my iPod. Music I want to listen to at the gym, walking, in my car, travelling, and it even serves as my wake-up Alarm. And like SS said, a few extra hookup devices and you can DJ at anyone's home or party...Mine was a gift from my boys. They know their Mother well!!!
15th June 2006 10:15 PM
Sir Stonesalot Oh yeah. If you like gadgets...there's all sorts of cool little gadgets to assesorize your iPod with. Like the iTrip, so you can play it over any FM radio. Or the iClick...a remote that lets you operate the iPod from anywhere in the house, even through walls! Bose makes a boom box that you can dock your iPod with and turn it into one of those wave players. Or with the proper cable, you can plug it into your home stereo.

15th June 2006 10:36 PM
pdog I'm geting one... with the iTrip and boom box... Fuck it, I'll buy shit I don't need for it, I'm sold.

Zeeta iPod therefore iAm

TRUE!

I have a Nano and it fuckin rocks, it's tiny and sexy.

Don't think much of the shuffle function tho, it always plays the same things, it's a kind of semi shuffle!

Dunno how to get top 25 on my iPod Nano - don't think it supports it?

25. Delta Lady-Joe Cocker

I usually put songs on itunes if they're part of a collection I'll never exclusively listen to or if I'm making compilation CDs of one artist. Plus, some songs make it on there from downloading off the net and some are from "final vinyl" a program that allows for vinyl and cassettes to be transferred to itunes and then burned onto a disc.

But there are a bunch of others tied with 5 plays each ("Beyond Belief" by Elvis Costello & the Attractions, "Blue Moon of Kentucky" by Elvis, "But it's Alright" by J.J. Jackson, "Rocket 88" by Jackie Brenston, "Embryonic Journey" by Jefferson Airplane, "Ain't Even Done with the Night" by John COUGAR, "Riding with the King" by John Hiatt, "Help Me" by Joni Mitchell, "Heavenly Arms" by Lou Reed, "Didn't Want to Have to Do it" by Lovin Spoonful, "Glory Glory" by the Rascals, "Learning to Fly" by Tom Petty, "Excitable Boy" by Warren Zevon and "Aint' Gonna Come Til I'm Ready" by World Party)

its a great, great song. I've been pretty convinced from day one it's about Keith and their relationship which was - like the band - hanging by a thread at that time

So many of the lines ("you used to love to Honky Tonk", "now you say the party's over") seem like a kiss-off to their friendship
16th June 2006 08:47 PM
glencar Nice way of looking at it. I'd always thought it was about Miss Hall but Keith makes more sense.

Sir Stonesalot Vinyl and CDs are not dead.

Every single song of the (currently) 11,674 songs on my iPod came from either vinyl or CD. I have not downloaded a single song. And I have no plans to start doing so anytime soon.
