i don't know when they started doing it but i know that by Bridges tour at least they were paying a small army of people to tell them what to wear
i met this girl who worked for the stones (circa bridges) and madonna amongst others in their "costume departments" so i have it first hand that most of what the stones wear is at the suggestion of some so-called "expert" (tho god knows bill could always use whatever help he could get in that dept.)
