Ten Thousand Motels Slash faces fine for smoking onstage
June 12,2007
Rock Radio Online

Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash and lead singer Scott Weiland could both face fines for smoking onstage during the band's concert at the International Arena in Cardiff, Wales on Thursday night (June 7th), according to icWales. Slash and Weiland reportedly chain-smoked their way through the show despite a ban on smoking in any enclosed space that was passed by the Welsh legislature in April. The two musicians could each face a fine of fifty pounds, or $98, while the venue itself could be fined the equivalent of up to $5,000 for not stopping the artists from lighting up.

The Cardiff city council confirmed it would investigate the matter. Velvet Revolver is playing shows in Europe to promote the upcoming release of the band's second album, Libertad, which is due out July 3rd. Velvet Revolver will tour the U.S. with Alice In Chains later this summer.

Didnt they threaten Keith with the same thing somewhere recently? This is no sweat off their back, nor the venues. I liken this to LA club owners giving a shit that their celebrity clientèle are underage.

Saint Sway the Velvet Revolver fellas were lighting up all night a few weeks ago at a private acoustic show they did at the Gramarcy Park Hotel. Nobody cared.

Wanna know why?

Because no one does - outside of politicians.

NYC has had a ban on smoking for over 5 years now. But most of the places I go to, the regulars are still allowed to puff inside, as long as your cool about it.

the only time you ever hear about this stuff is when a politico wants to seem tough by threatening a celeb for smoking (always after the fact, btw)
