Evidently The Pirates of the Caribbean Plot did have the role of a long-lost father written into the movie even without Keith. I just received a promotional flyer in the mail from Disney for the showings at The El Capitan Theater in LA and they describe one character as Bootstrap Bill played by Stellan Skarsgard. Bootstrap is described as Will's (Orlando Bloom's) long-lost father. I wonder if when Keith declined they just switched the character from Jack's father to Will's father.

I heard Bootstrap Bill beheads Captain Crunch in the opening scene. He wanted to see if his head stayed crunchy in milk. It does!

Great movie, the modern day Indiana Jones.
I feel sorry for the kids today. It didn't even measure up to Temple Of Doom.
