i've heard that after bill wyman left the rolling stones, they tried to get flea to replace him on bass. did anything ever come of this?
however, i do know for sure that flea played on mick jagger's solo album wandering spirit.

I doubt they would've considered it too seriously - though it wouldn't surprise me if they wanted him to play bass during some of the Voodoo Lounge sessions as a guest |

The RHCP are a great band....too bad about what happened at their concert this past week, though.
Anyway, I listen to Californication a lot. One of the best albums out there. |

flea has also played bass with fear, circle jerks, jane's addiction, and porno for pyros.

I saw the Chili Peppers on their Californication tour and they rocked!! |

Flea did play on several songs on Wandering Spirit. Maybe that's where this crazy rumor got started. |

I think Flea has most of the talent in that band. I would like to see them live, although I have heard that Anthony cant sing on-key. |

A guy died from electricution. I think it was a guy from a university in North Carolina. Supposedly he was barefoot and stepped on a wet step that had some wires running across it.

I'm not sure if Flea was ever a serious candidate for the Stones vacancy..I think what happened was that when the bass job became available, the press basically got lazy and decided to list every remotely well known bass player in the business, regardless of how absurd the idea was plus the fact that some of them were in quite active and successful bands themselves! The names I read at the time included John Entwistle, John McVie, Flea plus several others. When Mick or Keith (I cant remember which) made some ironic joke at Bill's expense by saying "maybe we'll replace him wih a woman" the press actually took it literally and deduced that the new bassist could well be Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads!!
Flea's somethin' else though, and "By The Way" is an album to die for. |

I'VE HEARD THE ONLY 3 THAT GOT SERIOUS CONSIDERATION WAS DARRYL,DOUG WIMBISH AND PINO PALLADINO.THEY MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE |

if i recall correctly, doug wimbish has played on the solo albums of several rolling stones members.
and mick jagger sang backing vocals on one of living colour's albums.
