Ten Thousand Motels |
Sonny Leyland.
A great pianist is not necesarily a great Rock n roll pianist....and vice versa. It's an "it", an ultimately undefineable something. |

Ten Thousand Motels |
Seth Justman was pretty good on a good night. |
|
The Wick |
Not just because he passed away today, but Billy Preston is definitely in my top five. TTM has a great list, I would just fit in Preston on there. I know his forte was the organ, but he played some lovely stuff on piano. Before he went nuts and got himself hurt, Jerry Lee Lewis was magic. |

While technically he's nothing to write home about, I can't think of a keyboardist who played a more important role in the definition of his band's sound than Ray Manzarek. |

PET SHOP BOYS???? DEPECHE COMMODE????
Oh well, to each his own, but those guys all play with one finger.
Mike Gordon is the bass player for Phish. The keyboard player, who IS indeed awesome, is Page McConnell.
Ray Manzarek is a huge tool with one setting on his organ - "cheesy". |

I saw a Martin L Gore solo show a few years ago. Not too familiar with a lot of the music, it was a free ticket, but it was really good. |
