Loretta Lynn (with /jack White): Van Lear Rose. I successfully abstained from this record until the hype had died down. But it's good. Now, Dolly should hook up with the Drive-by Truckers. Just kidding. Linda Ronstadt should.
The Mojo Apostles (www.mojoapostles.com), American Halfass. Local band we have a show with next month at whose show last night I drank my fateful, torturous Hakke Beck. These guys are southern rock/rockabilly-ish. They did a rousing version of Rhinestone Cowboy, and had this great freakin' song about how another good man's gone Christian, and they think they're gonna be sick, but he's pledged allegiance to the man on the sticks, instead of drinking in a bar on a Wednesday night, his wife says we're all going to hell in a bucket, and for once in her life the dumb bitch is right (I've clearly left one line out--can't remember it--but you get the idea.
The Devil's Own, Everything Is Broken Always. Southern Rock, punk. Nother local band, buddies. I think this record is freakin' HOT.

Concrete Blonde, Free. Johnette Napolitano has such an interesting voice. I forget about this record and her, even, and then come across it again. So evocative of that time period for me. |

Peaches - Stranglers - OK its a best of but a 'kin good one!
1977 - The Clash
Kings of Leon - Four Kicks "I'll be lovin him under my shoe!"
John Lee Hooker - This Is Hip from the "Jukebox of the rolling stones" disc that was free with Uncut
Exile is on rotation on the kitchen "ghetto blaster" superb for washin up to! LOL!
Robert Palmer - Addictions On tape on the blaster, VERY badly over produced but hey! it was the eighties and its a good album. The bird likes it as well.
Can't believe Palmer put "Some Guys Have All the Luck" on the album when he had blatantly stolen it from Rod Steward - his excuse was "oh,,,I was hangin with him and I must have heard the song sub consciously!"
Sounds a bit like Joey and Maxlulgar LOL!
