Factory Girl
"Yet, he says he will go and see his former band mates perform this summer if he gets the chance."

LOL, and he'll throw his Y-fronts on stage!

I think its just Bill mouthing off. Not a big deal. But, he forgot to mention his biggest hobby-PIE! ROTFL...
06-06-03 09:28 AM
telecaster I never liked Bill. Average bass player who fell ass backwards into the greatest gig on earth.

Just by showing up he was able to cash massive checks
when he really should have been working at some government job

Brought nothing to the table and took away tons and was and is a quitter

Fuck him
06-06-03 09:30 AM
Factory Girl tele, I respectfully disagree. Bill was and is one of the best bass players in rock. Please listen to Hand Girls.
06-06-03 09:31 AM
nankerphelge I agree with all of that Tele -- although I will say that one listen to Handsome Girls and you can definitely hear a difference.

But his constant bitching and moaning about his former mates is old and shows no fucking class. He should just keep his trap shut -- who fucking cares Bill!!!
06-06-03 09:34 AM
Monkey Woman That's ridiculous. Either Bill's trying to be funny in an outrageous kind of way, or he's gnawed by green envy!

'No life', the Glimmer Twins? What about Mick's acting and movie producing? His solo records? His interest in cricket? His family and social life? (He's a party animal, we all know that! LOL) And what about Mick and Keith's families? Since Bill left the Stones, M & K became grantfathers and they've seen their elder children reaching adult age and beginning careers of their own.
Not to mention Mick's latest son Lucas, the divorce, etc.

But let's mention the fact that Keith lent his hand to several musical projects, from tributes to the likes of Hank Williams and Jimmy Rodgers to producing his Jamaican friends the Wingless Angels, playing on charity concerts and friends records and even helping a sister-in-law of his wife to do a gospel record. This guy lives for music, with or without the Stones!

I think Bill is sending those little jabs to his former partners to distance himself from the Stones but still get attention to himself. Whatever he does elsewhere, he'll ways be remembered as 'the bass player for the Rolling Stones'. So he tries to prove he's worth something without them, and to do so, he finds nother better than to belittle the Stones. For all the respect I have for Bill as a musician, I think it's childish and ridiculous.
06-06-03 09:44 AM
F505 Bill is in the hamburger business for over 10 years now so he hast lost contact with the music scene. His Rhythm Kings are an example of saltless, insipid, middle of the road soft porno.
06-06-03 09:56 AM
telecaster Did I mention that he also has milked his experience with The Stones to the max?

From restaurants to multiple books he has taken it to a level that would make Gene Simmons blush

I am so pissed I might sell my 45 of "In Another Land"

06-06-03 09:57 AM
steel driving hammer For Bill to say he's opened restaurant, took some pictures and produced 2 fucking records is NOTHING!

Mick's done 5 movies!

Like Bill actually does any work at the restaurant! LOL!

But Bill blaming Jagger and Richards for the Stone's musical stagnation was a low blow like non other.

And to say the Stones don't take risks! What nerve!

I think it's a risk to play in China, India etc...

Touring this late in your life is a big risk while Wyman sits on his lazy ass.

I don't they need to take risks anyway.

Voodoo Lounge was no risk, it was back to fundamentals.

sirmoonie Those comments sound a lot more like someone self justifying a bad decision than anything else.

Not one sentence he uttered makes sense.

Especially musical stagnation? At least they had some music capable of stagnating, ya stang ass bitch-putz! WTF? Whats your name again? Bill who? Oh yeaaahhhhhhhh.....that whole monkey dick thingy back in the......you know....uh....what was your name again?
06-06-03 10:42 AM
Nellcote How much would anyone pay for a celebrity death match....

KEITH VS BILL

As the Visa ads say, PRICELESS~!

Wyman should stick to to parenting, as he seems to have that down pat.

Again, a case of a Stone leaving, not realizing what he had...

Sir Stonesalot So, all you people who clamor to get Bill back in the band....what do you think of your boy now?
06-06-03 11:15 AM
parmeda hmmm...you got a point there SS.
06-06-03 11:56 AM
sirmoonie "opened a restaurant" - yeah, you mean you bought a pre-fabbed TGIF box, changed the name, and then hired someone to come up with silly little Stones related names for the menu items. "Bitch and Chips" I mean, c'mon!

jb As much as I dislike his comments, his role in the band can not be diminished. I know everyone likes DJ, but that rhythm section has never quite grooved since our dearly beloved Bill "retired". I think his live performances during the many tours still stands out, compared to his minimal output on the studio albums. Just listen to the boots, particularly 78 tour, and Bill really does add a lot. Hopefully his comments are tongue and cheek as I doubt Mick and Keith are too concerned...particularly since Keith has made a career of slamming Mick the past few years.

steel driving hammer Off topic but I just had 2 bottles of Snapple w/ my lunch and the under the cap they have strange facts.

One said, "The average human eats 18 spiders in his/her lifetime, while sleeping."

The other said, "Strawberries are the only fruit whose seeds grow on the outside."

Get the facts at www.snapple.com

Hmm, good point.

sonicrock well i still like bill....leave the poor man alone .
06-06-03 12:41 PM
throbby I think being a Stone for thirty years gives him the right to his comments. I'm thinking he might think he cashed in one tour too soon.

His bass lines in '78 sure pummled my chest cavity.

Big fan of guys who molest 13 year old girls?

Talk about developing interests outside the band. What a sick fuck!

I agree, Josh, especially on the point of Keith trashing Mick. We don't sit here and bitch about how Keith is a traitor to the Stonesian cause, do we? I do hope Bill was just fucking around, and even if he wasn't, who cares? What does bitching about it do for us? Not a whole lot.
06-06-03 02:23 PM
Sir Stonesalot Oh you guys don't buy that whole Keith bashes Mick thing do you?

It was done to stir the pot. Create some controversy. And it worked.

You'd think that someone with a law degree could figure that one out. Unless, of course, he's just bringing up the Mick/Keith squabble to do the same thing...stir the pot.

There is a difference between the Glimmer fued, and Bill slinging stones....Mick and Keith are still in the band, and they still work together. Bill isn't.

Does Bill's tenure give him the right to sling mud....NO. He quit, and gave up that right.

i was just talking music and stones say it s not capital crime bill take the song for granted maybe
06-06-03 06:02 PM
sirmoonie I wasn't calling you a sick fuck, I was saying Wyman is. And he is. He should be swabbing the showers in one of HMS Prisons rather than trashing the two guys who made his lame ass into a world famous rock star. What a fucking loser.
06-06-03 06:07 PM
Riffhard I still would like to see Bill join the band for a show here and there, however, there is no excuse for ragging on the Stones. I remember when I covered the press conference in '97 for the B2B tour. Someone asked what Bill was up to. Keith said,"I think he's still shelling out fish and chips!" So I guess it goes both ways.

mac_daddy I had to keep browsing the board...

I was totally stoked to come home and read about today's show, and check all those beauitiful pics...

and then I came into this thread...

in Bill's defense:

Reporters on the gossip beat tend to be deceiving, and the scum of the earth. I am sure that there was a helluvalot more asked, and that the ONLY bass player who will ever truly be IN the band had alot more to say...

It is also safe to assume that the reporter had this divsive slant in his mind from jumpstreet - why was he talking to Bill in the first place? He probbly buttered Wyman up, got him comfortable, and got a few off-the-cuff remarks on his recorder (which may or may not have been visible). And that assumes the reporter identified himself...

If these things were said in earnest, however, and Bill has not been misrepresented, then he is more bitter than I had thought. And that would be too bad...

The dude is an introvert - I never cease to be amazed by the fact that HE was the stallion of the band. Given this disposition, touring and playing live were things he didn't want to do anymore. That is the difference. Keith, Charlie, Mick and Ronnie love playing live. Even when they are off, they are smiling (and Charlie is never off). It always looked like pulling teeth for Bill...

While Charlie is the most underrated player in Rock 'n Roll history, Bill is up there on that list. He wasn't the Ox, anymore than Charlie is Moonie or Bonzo, but he always had talent, and his playing will forever be an integral part of the sound of our favorite band. DJ (wasn't he in Big Country?) just doesn't feel it, he has never been able to find it, and he probably never will...

Oh - Bill sounded pretty f*cking good in '72 as well. I am grooving to "You Can't Do That Baby" (which is the best sounding 1972 source I know of), and he is all up in the mix - my neighbors could (grudgingly) tell you the same thing

06-06-03 08:20 PM
Angiegirl Although Darryl is much easier on the eyes, Bill fits the Stones, Bill's bass was what the Stones needed. Listen to the boots.

And besides that, I read the little story and read nothing new. Just the same things he always says about the band (even with the same words), so what's the problem? I can't even believe a news station sacrifices a whole page to this repetetive crap.

NHStonesfan The Rolling Stones will never develop musically."

What does he mean they haven't developed musically?

How about Exile? Did he forget that album. I;d say they developed well before Begars Banquet?

and their Albums sound the same?????????

Some Girls and Let It Bleed vitually identical

He must be kidding.
