The three outdoor shows that I went to last year (Cologne, Paris and Sheffield) all started about 30 mins before dusk. I'm sure it was to due to curfew. But Werchter is in the middle of nowhere so I can't see curfews playing into it. |

The Stones didnt want any more drunk chicks playing maracas in the On-Stage Boxes, fucking up their timing, so they had to do away with that novel concept for Europe. (I dont think they really ever sold well in the States, did they?)

Not really. Its just that in mid summer its daylight for so much longer. In Scandinavia in June, it could be bright until maybe 11.30
The shows in Europe usually see the Stones coming on at 9 pm or later. In some cities, it may be earlier due to curfews due to the regulations against noise in an urban area (there was a 10.30 curfew for Wembley Stadium and Twickenham).
In some of the hotter areas like Portugal, Spain or the south of France, they would be unlikely to be onstage until after 10 pm. Werchter is nowhere near a city, so theres no real problem with starting the show later in the evening |

I more go out of habit but I am mainly talking about the people who go to a few shows a year. Most of those people have already seen the Stones. |
