Stones fans from Europe at really pissed off that concerts postponed because of Keiths head injury are unlikely to be
re-scheduled during Sept.06.
The reason for this they believe is that the 'Stones' have already committed themselves to a fall U.S. tour starting 20/9/06 where they earn big big money.
If this turns out to be true then the postponed concerts in Europe will not take place until 2007.
This would be totally unfair as most of the European concerts that have been postponed are 80% sold out.
Now that the 'European' Tour has been reduced to 21 stadium dates tickets will be like gold dust.
As the four aces in the pack (apart from Mick) have been showing signs of their mortality just like the rest of us of the older generation then you can understand why loyal European fans whose concerts have been postponed believe that 'Stones' are treating them like their second class .
Yet the new 'ABB' album has sold remarkably well in 'Europe' compared to the dismyll sales in the U.S.
The 'Stones' have a loyal fanbase in 'Europe'who if a fall U.S. Tour does happen are being treated extremely poorly.
Let's hope that this is not the case and that the real reason is to give Keith a rest after 21 concerts in view of how ill he has been. |

Apparently the postponed dates will take place in 2007, also the rumours of the fall tour in North America are strong and seems true. But anyway the European leg will continue in 2007 so it's just some months more.
This is the OFFICIAL statement by ServiCaixa from Spain, it says officialy that the shows in Madrid and Barcelon will take place in 2007

I'd love them to play the States so more people could see them again - but, if they are to play in September and they're leaving Europe out just for the $$$$...

It's all becoming a big joke. I had tickets for Brussels but to be honest I am losing my interest to see them again. It's truly a disgrace to let the disappointed European fans wait till the summer of 2007 only because they can grab some more money in the States. |

If they go to the States, fine, its just hope it wouldn’t be at the expense of the postponed Euro shows. If they had any morals or sense of decency, they'd make Europe and rescheduling shows there, they're immediate priority. |

This does suck for our European fans, to be sure, and I don't blame anyone for being cynical about the business aspect of this.
But nonetheless, regarding the Stones coming back to America , as Joey would say...
I'm so excited I'm typing this with my nipples!!!
Don't worry European fans, they will still kick ass when the rescheduled shows take place. |

The trains in Europe are nice. Hop on one and go to a different city. If the Stones told me I would simply have to hop on a plane to go to a different US city (which I'd do anyway) to be assured of another tour the next year I'd be excited as Joey, not whining like a spoiled brat. I really wonder how some folks deal with the real problems in their lives? |

It's called being able to afford it Jumping Jack
If I could, I'd follow the Stones round the whole Europe. But as you say, there are "real problems" in our lives, that need real Euros too in many cases So flying or taking the train to other cities doesn't always work.
And I don't think anyone's being spoilt when their favourite band decides to ditch them for earning more $$$... |

Barca posponed till 2007... but no dates...?
That's it, I'm asking my money back.
Will see in 2007 what the year will bring.

getting new dates arranged for shows postponed to later in summer 2006 is a more urgent priority than sorting out a date for a show thats 12 months away and which will take place as part of a tour which will have extra dates added anyway.
No one seriously NEEDS to know the exact date of a 2007 show just yet. Several ticket selling agencies for these shows have already stated that new dates will be available by July. |

Why dont they just base themselves at a casino in Vegas, and be done with it. |

that'll happen eventually if they stick around long enough. Have no doubt |

Shouldnt the amazing fact there is going to be a Rolling Stones in 2007 not be cause for celebration?...There was always a strong hint of USA Fall anyway so whats the complaint about that.Plus nothing is official yet..but we are already bitchin..hmmmmmm |

I think the people who dont get a show this year and have to wait 12 months have every right to feel frustrated and somewhat annoyed. Theres a lot more expense involved in attending a show than just buying a ticket - if that was the case, a simple chage of date wouldnt really affect anyone
Personally it suits me for the exact reasons that you've stated - however no arrangement was going to please everyone, so I think its reasonable that a certain percentage of people will feel the need to be somewhat less than happy.
Especially those who had tickets for the shows that have been cancelled and not postponed.

This tour...and any tour...by any band...it's just "more truer" w/ the Stones...we all know it...they know it...they don't care...we don't care (in the US, anyway)...they don't care that we don't care...we don't care that they don't care...we just want a great show...
this whole idea the Euros have about "loyalty" to the fans is so effin absurd...even the Grateful Dead, the ultimate fan's band, have said that they did it for the fans...but the fact that they employ so many people, and their families who get health benefits, and depend on the bands tours, etc were another major reason they continuosly toured...now THAT is reality!!! |

Is is true that from a certain point onwards, it becomes more of an enterprise than a band, BUT...
You see, most of us tend to have this romantic notion that when it's arts you're dealing with (be it music, poetry, writing, painting etc.) the main reason you're doing it is cause you love it; you can't picture living without it. Cause you need to let what's inside out. To express yourself.
And when you forget what you started this for (cause you loved the God damn music so much, for crying out loud, you didn't have ANY money and yet you were more creative, living in that dump of a house, but still playing with a wicked fire in your soul) it is kind of sad. And yes, you do leave behind fans feeling betrayed and wondering what you're doing this for.
Cause then the $$$$ roll in and the dream is over, but still, I'm sure the Stones DO get a huge high and kick out of all this, despite the money. |
|
gimmekeef |
Fotini...thats why I think most bands make their very best music well before they ever make any real money. Its about the passion..nothing to lose...Once they become famous and have money the risk taking ends.Exceptions do exist but are few and far between... |
|
Jumping Jack |
I know this sounds insensitive (and it probably is), but if you can't afford a train ticket you are probably following the wrong band. There are many things in this world that I can't afford, but I don't complain about what is beyond my means. If you don't earn enough perhaps the blame should be yours, if the governemnt takes too much, perhaps blame the government.
Perhaps someone can educate me, is a roundtrip train ticket more or less than a T-shirt or program? |
|
GotToRollMe |
Well, now that we know that Keith is going to live and the Stones are going to play again, we can resume bitching about tour dates, expensive tickets, and setlists. ALRIGHT!
Seriously, though, I'd probably go apeshit too if they cancelled the only show they were playing in my country. I hope our European friends who had tickets get to see them at some point in this tour.

depending on where youre going, a train ticket can be every bit as expensive as a plane ticket in many places! |
