sssoul i don't get into "best", but among the many Truly Great Keith Lead performances:
his 1983 set with Jerry Lee Lewis.

Keith, be well - all the way, baby, all the way

Yyteri Beach I recall that Sympathy's studio solo was played by Eric Clapton. Am I right or wrong? Or do I have an early dementia ;-)

Gazza my favourite is actually a bit of rhythm - not lead. Its the slow bit of riffing in the bridge of that great version of Midnight Rambler from Brussels '73

That version is the single greatest live performance in the band's career and Keith's part is so nasty its blood-curdling.

Tumbling Dice from 'Handsome Girls' (its from either Detroit or Houston - cant recall which right now) is also up there. Wonderfully ramshackle.

I love the lead parts on the Tokyo 90 version of "Sympathy". Its the same version thats on Flashpoint but unfortunately Keith's two magnificent solos have been heavily edited.

..but its almost impossible to touch "Gimme Shelter". The Stones finest few minutes. And maybe Keith's.

keith was on fire during sympathy during wheels/jungle tour wasn't he! gazza, if you havent already checked it out, on youtube there is a killer version of sympathy from that period, i dont think ive ever seen keith solo for that long, doing his lovely bursts of rhythmic greatness!

Never was, although I did build a birdhouse in shop class.

Wasn't born in a damned manger either, and my birthday isn't Dec 25!

I love that one too, actual the whole boot is fantastic. Also, watching Bitch on L&G is awesome. Love to watch Mick T with the rhythm, I did not realize Keith was lead until I saw the dvd (which of course was provided to me by JJ).
