Looking for advice on how to come away with a half way decent bootleg on this tour...anyone have any knowledge on what kind of equipment I'll need? I have up close seats (I think)...P.S., I prefer not to get caught, so, any ideas on what I can sneak in? |

Use minidisk (MD) as a format with only one stereo microphone
Basically I use a portable Sony MD and a Stereo Equalized Sony microphone (which is, in fact, more expensive that the MD recorder itself). I have never make a recording of a Stones concert but others.
Also please find a portable MD recorder with ambient equalizer at least; it is really important together with Mega Bass.

Use a DAT recorder and high quality binaural microphones. Dont let the metal detectors scare you back to the car, they are worthless and if you get caught at the door they cannot legally confiscate your equipment (in the U.S. at least). |

I have a Creative 20 gb Jukebox that is supposed to make high quality wav recordings with a self-powering mic. Have any of you tried to use of these? |

How long will it take for boots to come into circulation from this tour? How long was it untill boots from No Security were available, im not really talking about audience recordings |

depends what you mean by "boots"..do you mean bootleg CD titles or just CDR's of shows that are in circulatin..in the latter case, youre talking pretty much almost immediately
Im hoping to set some system up for this tour via this site where we can do CDR "trees" for each show as they come into circulation - that way we can all share the music and wont have to fork out a fortune to bootleggers. More on this in due course! watch this space!

Fantastic idea, Gazza! I've been involved with non-Stones-related trees and it's a great way to share the music.
Now for someone like me, I don't have a burner and locally, I can not find "music only" cdrs (which a lot of people use) for less than $4 each! So I'm your classic, humble branch. |
