Soldati An insider of the band told me what they are impressed with the speed that the Tickets was sold (more than 500.000 in 3 weeks!!!) and they will surely add more shows in December (6 at least).
The band will mix 5 songs in New York (probably in Hit Factory), four will appear in the "Best Of Album" and one will be b-side of the first single. They recorded more than ten songs, some of them will be included in a future studio album (to be recorded in the 2003)
The songs will end in July and we not surprised if Mick Taylor put guitars in some of the songs, as other friends (the process is seemed "Dirty Work" - Recorded in Paris and mixed in NY)

And...
As the album is not published alone for Virgin, also for DECCA and SONY (both in the production of the album), the promotion campaign will be very big and the band will appear in many events (MTV Music Awards, for example)

Maxlugar I was actually holding out hope that they would get in the studio and things would just flow so good that they'd can this whole greatest hits shit and put out a new album.

Looks like things did go rather well if they did ten songs already.

nankerphelge One thing that keeps jumping out at me -- and we'll see if it actually pans out -- is the Stones are actually doing what many people have been clamoring for for the last couple of years on these boards:

Remastered ABKCOs- check
Mick Taylor and/or Bill Wyman on some tracks - check
Mick Taylor and/or Bill Wyman on the tour - maybe
Changed set lists - check
Club shows - check
A big fucking blimp with the tongue on the side - check
Ronnie getting his shit together - check

The only no-show so far is a new release and/or vault-raid -- but maybe we will see something after all.

I think someone in their camp actually got their shit in a pile this time. AT least it appears that way -- we'll see come September and beyond

Joey "I think someone in their camp actually got their sh## in a pile this time. AT least it appears that way -- we'll see come September and beyond "

Damn Straight my Brother....

Somebody's hard work and dedication is much appreciated by all of us. I mentally sit at their feet with wide eyes for our voices have been heard above this fetted and festering sewer called " today's music " .

I wait for Taylor's gorgeous vibrato and his fluid , life affirming , ear drum caressing , soul lifting , precision note launching , liquid , magically Stonesilicious notes wafting across the landscape .

Oh the Glory ..........

The glory ............

gotdablouse yet another contradiciton within the Stones' "camp"...
If they've come up with 4 songs good enough to be alongside the best of the last 40 years, that enough would justify putting out a whole new album. Damn, no album since...Some Girls or Tattoo You (although that was a best of of sorts) has been able to boast 4 great songs.
The more I think of it (and hopefully someone with a brain in the Stones camp), this greatest hits package with 4 new songs makes absolutely no sense. Michael Jackson's "History" in 1995 boasted 1 cd of old stuff and 1 cd of new stuff and marked the beginning of the end for him in terms of sales (and that's the only reason the Stones are putting this lame ass package together in the first place, sales). So if he couldn't pull it off with this hlaf baked concept at a time when he was selling zillions of albums, how do the Stones and Virgin think they're going to pull it off.
This 2003 album rumour is a cheap way for the Stones "camp" to make it up to the real fans who currently feel either disappointed, disgusted or betrayed. But how likely is that ? They didn't care to get off their asses to make a new album before the tour, so how motivated would they be after an exhausting tour, make that ZERO motivation in my book !

On June 16, 2001 the hit counter of the WET page was inserted here, it had 174,489 hits. Now the hit counter is for both the page and the board. The hit counter of the ITW board had 1,127,645 hits when it was closed and the Coolboard didn't have hit counter but was on line only two months and a half.
