Lethargy Phew. So relieved by the NBC warning. Sgt Pepper isn't only NOT the greatest album ever, isn't only NOT the greatest album of the 60's, isn't only NOT the greatest Beatles albums, but is actually I think one of the WORST Beatles albums.

Why it is so universally worshipped is one of the strangest thing, one I'll never understand.

Beatles albums better than SGT Pepper:

- White Album
- Abbey Road
- Revolver
- Magical Mystery Tour (<--this is their psychedelic masterpiece, not Pepper)
- Rubber Soul
- Help (yes, even Help is better in my opinion)

VoodooChileInWOnderl Not sure if MMT is their psychedelic masterpiece but Revolver has their their most psychedelic song by the Beatles with part of the lyrics by Timothy Leary the LSD gurú: Tomorrow Never Knows

Turn off your mind, relax and float down stream,
It is not dying, it is not dying

Lay down all thoughts, surrender to the void,
It is shining, it is shining.

That you may see the meaning of within
It is being, it is being

Love is all and love is everyone
It is knowing, it is knowing

That ignorance and hate may mourn the dead
It is believing, it is believing

But listen to the colour of your dreams
It is not living, it is not living

Or play the game "Existence" to the end
Of the beginning, of the beginning

Beatles albums better than Sgt Pepper in HTM's opinion...

Please Please Me
With The Beatles
A Hard Days Night
Beatles For Sale
Help!
Rubber Soul
Revolver
Magical Mystery Tour (should've just stuck with the original UK EP though)
The White Album
Abbey Road
Let It Be

* Only Yellow Submarine (should've being an EP) is worse than Sgt Pepper. The latter is an important album in many ways, but I've never liked it.

Starbuck pepper doesn't make my top five favorite beatles album.

it is, however, one of the best albums ever. shows how great of a band they were.

pdog I might like it better in mono....
Tomorrow Never Knows is one of the greatest songs ever written. It at times is my fav., although Gimme Shelter is really my fav. if I had to choose. But I own both... So I don't!

Agree about Tomorrow Never Knows. The Stones were light years behind The Beatles, even in 1966 when Jagger and Richards were starting to get consitently good. Everything about Revolver just screams genius... except Yellow Submarine.

hey now...my three year old loves that song. plus, out of all the songs the beatle tribute band does, that song most consistently gets the chicks to whip off their cardigans and toss your "cross-your-hearts" at the extremely sexy lennon look-alike.
