DE-TINGLE!!!!

LJ.

And you wondered why some people were cynical? LOL

Yeah, apparently there was some security cock up. They allowed some fans in and then when the press conferences were due to take place, thought better of it and threw out anyone without press accreditation.

As far as I'm awarem the press didnt even get to see the 3 songs either.

Maybe Marco can fill us in. Must have been crushing for the few fans who had their hopes built up for nothing

LadyJane I think it safe to say we all have a love/hate relationship with the Stones.

I have warned fans for years about performances in Europe (particularly those traveling from the US, Mexico, Canada, etc). This should come as no surprise.

I would probably imagine that the decision to throw people out had more to do with over-zealous security & management than with the band themselves, in this case, to be fair.

Hey, that's a young Jagger pose there

Isn't it absolutely GREAT to see the real, core, stripped down version of the Rolling Stones on stage? No horns, no backups, no Vegas acts. Why can't they take the hint and just DARE to do it?

KeithRichards What was the whole thing about?
I don't really get it.
There is no press release to be found anywhere!

Honky Tonk Man The photos are great, but what t was the point if no fans were there to hear it and the press not hearing it too? Ridiculous!

Me Either?....

1. I had no idea this was to occur
2. It doesn't look like anyone was even there to see this?
3. Why is there no other report or news of this in other places?
4. Lastly, I though they already kinda made the whole thing public with Mick about five weeks ago in a TV special and an in depth interview thing just for the Euro tour?

I am lost.

Ian

pdog Perhaps the band tried charging everyone to see them play 3 songs... Fans and press, finally grew some balls and told them to fuck off... That would be cool.

Gazza At last - here's some video of the performance (brief clips only) and the interviews, from Belgian TV

thing is they can do it!

in fact they play better that way.

It seems like they kick it up a notch and sound tighter when they play as just the core unit on the b-stage. That part of the show always sounds great.

I think when they have the horns and everything else behind them they know theres as security blanket there and I think Ronnie & Keiths playing suffers then. But they tend to bring it on the b-stage.

they could do a whole show that way and instead of just doing the core unit for few b-stage songs, bring out the horns and backup singers for just a few big numbers

Riffhard It seems that Keef's still using the old "pass it on" line. Ronnie seems to be in pretty good form. So much for the notion that this thing was just a stripped down version of the band playing live sans backup vocalists, horns, etc. The horn section carried Tumbling Dice. At least from what I could hear. I think that they were just going through the motions here. Mick was using his screaming vocals on every track. That has always driven me nuts. Sing the goddamned song! Don't scream it!

Plus that was not Sly Stones'-Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Again),but I'll be damned if I know what it was? If it was the Sly and the Family Stones' tune then Mick has changed it up alot.

Mediocre performance at best. I guess they're saving it for the road.
