Yes. Always a good sign, although to be fair, theres no way he was going to respond to that question with a negative answer, as that would unleash all the "last tour" tabloid frenzy, which is the sort of announcement they dont want to make.

you're probably right, but he could have just said ' we don't know, who knows....'

None of them wrote it. Its a Robert Johnson song. If they all managed to get a credit on it, it would be because the song wasnt copyrighted and would be public domain, so they could all get a "Traditional, arranged by.." credit.

The Stones first cut the song in 1970.

They rehearsed both of the above songs today or yesterday, apparently!
[Edited by Gazza]

Exactly. Would the Stones have to pay Taylor anything to do that song though? How does it work, do they have to pay Chuck Berry when they do his songs?
4th June 2007 06:59 AM
corgi37 I presume they do. Though the copyright is about to run out. Unless America has longer copyrights.

They certainly have to pay Berry when they perform his songs on TV broadcasts. His excessive demands for royalties was the reason why 'Little Queenie' was dropped from quite a few of the BTB live broadcasts, even though it was an almost ever-present in the set at most of the shows elsewhere on that tour.

Its interesting that they havent played ANY Chuck Berry songs at any show since 1998, since they had that royalties issue.

The glass may be half full though Gazza.Maybe there are quite a few new tunes being added and new wrinkles as far as staging that needs to be shaken out....We can only hope
4th June 2007 04:01 PM
Saint Sway I like how they've mangaged to keep the rehearsals of "Dance Little Sister" comepletely under wraps so that they can surprise everyone with it during the encore tomorrow night

its gonna blow away that Gimme Shelter surprise they did during the band intro's at MSG

the place is gonna go nuts

Mick isnt supposed to sing two days in a row.

Think back to what happened in Atlantic City after theyd spent about 4 days before it rehearsing at the Beacon
4th June 2007 06:29 PM
Dan Do you think he is really singing during the rehearsal or just talking through the songs (like on the Toronto '97 bootleg?)

Dunno. I'd imagine that at this stage he's putting more effort in. I'm sure he knows his limits though
5th June 2007 06:51 AM
speedfreakjive i'm of the opinion that the quality of the performances is of more importance than the setlist content at this point

Well.of course it is, but when you pay a lot of money for a ticket, you should be quite entitled to 'expect' a high quality performance anyway
5th June 2007 09:59 AM
luxury1 Ha!--Saint sway, I was busy in the restroom during that damn Gimmie SHelter/band intro surprise at MSG, and man, was I angry at them for pulling that one!

I believe I have detected Mick "babying" his voice during the recent Belguim rehearsal/presser vids.

We can only hope the "questionable"--in terms of weather, ticket sales, etc--outcome of these giant stadium tours will be the more intimate gigs we all desire...
