Thanks for the header of Charlie at the Marquee celebration in '83. The two concerts that Alexis Korner and friends put on at the legendary club were electrifying.
One gig was video taped by the BBC and is available on dvd as Alexis Korner and Friends. Highly recommended. Bill Wyman singing Lawdy Miss Clawdy is a real treat.
The other show was taped for radio broadcast. (I sure would like to get a copy of that!) The highlight of that concert was Korner's solo acoustic version of what he considered the "greatest rock 'n roll song ever written"- Honky Tonk Woman. He received thunderous applause after his stirring rendition played on a somewhat tattered Spanish guitar.
Charlie and Ian Stewart were awesome those nights as well.
Unforgettable. |

Stu plays the whole set, but during "I'd rather go blind" (what a great version) there's another one playing the piano, do you know whi is he? |

The trombone player is sitting in on keyboards for I'd Rather Go Blind. I'm not sure of his name though. |
