JesusMe I am a big GNR fan, my dog is named Slash and I went to 2 of the Hammerstein shows

The new band is awesome,, call them GNR or whatever,, but I think I prefer the new band over the old GNR,, and as far as Axl, I dont know if it was the feed or not, but he didnt sound to good at some parts of that AOL show(I know the feed was bad, but I also thing he couldnt sing early in the show)

That being said I have a feeling he is gonna have problems over the next few months in europe, I wouldnt be surprised if some shows get cancelled or they kill the tour because Axl cant sing,, during the 2nd Hammerstein show he even said he lost his voice after the first nite and had to see a vocal specialist to help him for the 2nd nite(thanks to Sebastian Bach who helped him find the specialist)

_____________

Exactly! Axl can no longer perform with any regularity - the guy's voice is absolutely shot. Add to that the obvious physical decline, and it makes for a very -ahem- crappy product.

The musicians themselves might be solid, but chemistry baby plays a HUGE part in any band. For about five years GnRs had great Rock n Roll chemistry- crazy alcohol fueled insanity backed by some of the best flat out rock tunes of the late 80's early 90's.

They once shone bright - but then they burned out. Such is rock n roll...

Finally.. Someone who Understands it..

This Band is just a new & improved version Of the previous...

GNR 1.0 - Axl Slash Duff Izzy Adler
GNR 1.5 - Axl Slash Duff Gilby Sorum
GNR 2.0 - Axl Finck Buckethead etc... (With A NEW User Interface)
GNR 2.5 - 2006 Lineup..

I've seen them more than 40 times (All lineups..) And let me tell you.. The old lineup could be sloppy & uninspired..

The new lineup ?? ... Lean Mean.. Tight as a Virgin's P***Y

Sloppy is not always a bad thing... Unispired? No!
When they were hungry in 1987, no one was better. Too bad you guys missed that boat... It's 2006 and i'm listening to the bands who are hungry right now, and this line up of G&R, may be good musicians, but the frontman is a caricature of himself. I wouldn't go see that for free.

____________

Stop being such a fag for Axl.

Axl 1988 rocked.

Axl 2006 is a sad cartoonish, bloated, parody of a former Rock God. (See: Vegas Elvis circa 1974)
31st May 2006 06:43 PM
lotsajizz I have many fine bootlegs of Elvis from 1974 forward.....he played some of his best music those years, and only a fool would deny the TCB Band was one of the best ever....much like....

Actually this was the case as far back as 1988 when Axl blew his throat out and they had to cancel off the Maiden tour.

THIS is a greatest hits cover band with one original member. Mostly the same hits with a few new songs thrown in. I haven't analyzed the setlists but it looks like its almost the same show as 2002. Sure Axl owns the name so technically its Guns N Roses but I first saw them in 1988 and I don't get the same feeling. And the Axl groupies can keep him, I am not about to spend $100 to see for myself.

Actually this is beacuse Axl must be fucking stupid. He tried to tour in 2002 without an album and the tour sucked. Now he's making the same mistake again. They´re playing new songs, but the crowd isn't familiarized with it, so they don't get a good reaction, despite being great

You were in LA in 87? Did you see Jane's Addiction too. Man those were the days!
Wayside... LOL. I moved on to artists who are hungry and rock hard to pay for their beer and food. not some bloated has been stealing a former bands name. If he actually had been touring regurly all this time and making music, I would still probably think he sucked. BUT!!! his lameness is in what he does, not just the music, which I've heard, and I don't like it. And that's all I've ever really said, I don't like it!
I don't get mad b/c most people never heard of the bands I listen to today, I feel sorry for them, but i'm not attacking them... I listened to Axl, with open mind, and it sucked. it wasn't ignorance, it was informed opinion.
Check out The Novaks... Tell me what you think... The site plays the music in excellent quality, so all you need is speakers, ten minutes and an open mind... If you don't like it, I won't be mad...

Axl's voice sucked and Robin as well. Now Axl's voice is great, like that raspy voice he did during the use Your Illusion days, and Robin definately took the front as GNR lead axeman. This time around it's much better

I agree, they were better. Seeing them live in a small hot club with 200 or 300 people smashed together, jesus it was awesome.

corgi37 Calling this band GnR is like calling Wings the Beatles.
2nd June 2006 08:01 AM
lotsajizz Wings was not an upgrade in musicians. This is.

2nd June 2006 08:10 AM
corgi37 Ya reckon???

Why not just call it the "Axl Rose band".

Or, "The Axle Rose Project"

Tell me. Are the "21st Century Doors" still The Doors?

Are INXS really INXS?

If a tree falls in the forest...er, scrap that.

Calling it GnR is just crap.

2nd June 2006 08:17 AM
lotsajizz I am a capitalist here. He paid the others--gave them $$--for the ownership of the name. The others sold off. That gives him the right. They play GnR songs in a GnR style but with better musicianship....and a singer likely to go back to the rubber room at any moment. It's GnR all right....

2nd June 2006 09:28 PM
full moon Was Bad Company still Bad Company when the only original was the drummer Kirke in the 80's ?? Would The Smiths be The Smiths with only Morrissey? Have a drink on me . You need it chicken lips......
