GotToRollMe METALLICA UNIMPRESSED BY STONES' BAD ATTITUDE

28/05/2007 01:53

Heavy rockers METALLICA were given a heavy lesson in humility when they supported the ROLLING STONES on tour in 2005 - because MICK JAGGER treated them like they all had terrible diseases. The Enter Sandman stars were thrilled when their heroes asked them to play support on two dates, but their excitement quickly turned sour when they got the chance to meet the supergroup. Drummer Lars Ullrich called into syndicated U.S. radio programme The Opie + Anthony Show on Friday (25May07) with his recollections of touring with the Stones. He remembered, "Some assistant with, like, five walkie-talkies and a water-bottle holder comes in before the show and says, 'Do you want your picture taken with the Rolling Stones?' We were like, 'You know what? Sure. Why not?' "This assistant... escorts us into this place in the tunnel leading into the stadium and she says, 'Wait here...' About five minutes later the Stones come in, and I swear they didn't stop. "Charlie Watts said `Hello' and I think Keith (Richards) nodded or something, and Mick (Jagger) looked like we were all gonna give him pneumonia or something; he had this disgusting look on his face. They slowed down long enough, while the photographer took two or three frames, and then they walked off. "Then the assistant came over and said, 'If the band approves the photo, we'll send you a copy.' That kind of sums up the Rolling Stones experience... That kind of left me with a little bit of a strange taste in my mouth. If we ever pulled that, would you come and find me and shoot me? I mean, seriously?"

pdog Mick and Lars get along well... Tis is another bullshit article taking hs worrds and blowing them out of proportion. All the hustle and shit right before a show, and they are making up crap about a photo op... I've met the members of Metallica a few times, both good and bad moments. They are human beings and so are The Stones.

_Boomy_ I love both bands.

Love the Stones a million times more, but I love Metallica, too.

All of these guys have egos...so what. I'm sure it is a little blown out of proportion, but these guys are not always going to be chipper.

Have you ever seen "Some Kind of Monster"? These guys in Metallica can be some a-holes.

My brother in-law worked for Lars Assholrich for ten years as a PA. The stories I've heard... Everyone expects famous people to somehow be different than every other person. News flash ,their jobs are just like our jobs, it is work for the most part... The pay is usually better and the benefits can be really good, but everyone has to earn the success and just like our jobs, somedays are bad days and tough to get through. The more fame and success, the more burdens placed on you. If anyone wonders why The Stones live in their bubbles, it is b/c they can't survive w/o it...

Saint Sway hilarious story about the Stones blowing them off. Almost as funny as that UK band they dissed backstage last summer and made them buy their own tickets to the show.

gorda I got to see Metallica open for the Stones twice. Once from far away . . . and another FRONT-ROW-CENTER!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO0000000000000ooooooooooooo!

Too bad I was so drunk, I would have enjoyed it more! Although, had I been sober, I never would have walked straight to the front row!
