While I like quite a few of their songs,I have to say that the band, personally, have always been self-aggrandising and extremely smug. Read ANY interview from throughout their career, and,if there isn't a plethora of self-reverential twaddle in it,it was an 'Off' day for the smug gits.

Jon compares his songs to Dylan,he claims the new 'Bells of Freedom' is,and,I quote,"a little brother or a companion piece to Dylan's Chimes of Freedom". He compared the song writing on 2000's 'Crush' to masters like Tom Waits. Quoth smug Jon: "I think with this album, lyrically,we made an album that my heroes like Tom Waits & Bob Dylan would be proud of". For f*cks sake...

methinks you were somewhat underwhelmed, Gearoid, mo chara...!

Smugness and arrogance are all very well and somewhat justified if you have a talent worth being smug and talented about. Bob Dylan's an arrogant bastard. So are the Stones. So was Frank Sinatra. So was Miles Davis. Thats where the similarity ends.

For that prick to even mention anything he's ever written or is likely to write in the same sentence as a song like 'Chimes of freedom' beggars belief. He could sit on a fucking toilet in the middle of the New Jersey Turnpike from now until the end of time and even were he to receive a lightning bolt of divine inspiration up his jacksy every five minutes he wouldnt be capable of dreaming up one line or couplet that would hold a candle to it.

Bob Dylan or Tom Waits would be 'proud' of 'Crush' ? If ever there was a quote worthy of a "blank friggin stare", its that one (and he has plenty of other gems to keep it company).

sometimes less is more, my dear. Me bashing the Singing Poodle is predictable and too easy at times.

Jumacfly, Riffy and Sirstonesalot (amongst others) must be on holiday today or something. I'm surprised they havent chipped in.

corgi37 When all is said and done, BJ will be remembered for having fluffy hair, teeth whiter than a super nova, a keyboard player with the worst "perm used to cover baldness" do i have ever seen, and a drummer with the porn star name of Tico Torres.

BJ are a secretaries idea of a hard rock band.

Unfortunately, I know someone who was highly disappointed that she would not be able to attend these shows. Depressing.

Sir Stonesalot >Jumacfly, Riffy and Sirstonesalot (amongst others) must be on holiday today or something. I'm surprised they havent chipped in.<

Why would I waste my time posting about some fuckwit hair metal dude? Like I give a fuck what he's on about....

I try to live my life without ever having to think about Jon Bon Jovi or any of his ilk. I have more important things to use up my time.
