Charlie!Charlie! First bootleg I ever bought (some 16 years ago) was the album "Lonely at the Top". It contains outtakes from, I think, about '78 - '79. Though outtakes, it does look
like an album, but never released officialy.

Quality is quite good, but not excellent.
CD-cover is great (Stones projected in a
medieval bandits - atmosfere, very original!)

Tracks:
1. Living in a harder world classic opener
2. Drift away ballad (cover)
3. Sweet home Chicago strong blues!!
4. Linda Lu relaxed rocker
5. Los trios Guitarreros instrumental
6. Lonely at the top opener B-side
7. Munich Hilton relaxed rocker
8. What's the matter blues / jazzy
9. Gangster's Maul country / ballad

Gangster's Maul is currently mentioned now and then
as a dusted-off track for the new album!!!

What's the story behind these recordings?
Between which tours?
Does any of you know exactly when this was recorded?
Outtakes for which album (emotional rescue??)
And who does have all the lyrics to these songs?
The bootleg was released in 1983 by NONDON records, NY

These questions are bugging me for a some 16 years now,
so I'm very curious. See ya next summer!

Gazza The correct title of the opening track is actually "Living In The Heart Of Love"

"Sweet Home Chicago" is a Robert Johnson cover.

"Gangster's Maul" is correctly titled "Gangster's Moll". Its a common expression in English - no idea why so many bootleggers get the spelling wrong

The lyrics of all those songs can be found at Keno's website http://www.keno.org/Songlistnlyrics.htm

You're right Gazza, also Drift Away is a cover (Mentor Williams)

Brown Sugar But of course you will find all those lyrics also at

I think we are talking about the Stones version here, mate.
That one came out in 83 on the vinyl bootleg "Lonely at the top" on Nondon Records (KOK 1-5831)

during the Nov. 13-24, 1973 recording sessions (without Mick Taylor and Wood only present one night) they didn't record any of those songs, only Aint Too Proud To Beg, Black Limousine, Fingerprint File, If You Cant Rock Me and Slow Down And Stop were recorded.

Tracks 1 & 2 were recorded with Nicky on piano during the sessions in the same studio from January 14 to 28.

But also during these days Mick, Keith and Stu jammed with Giorgio Moroder and Billy Preston. It was common to have a tape ever running while jamming, so it is possible to have some early version of those tracks played and recorded during these days, who knows?

I don't know, and I'm not sure. Where did you get that information?

Yes, you're right, it was what I wrote, just that the song "Los tro guitarros" or "Los tros Guitarreros" with Mick, Keith and Woody on guitars was not recorded during those days and not in the Compass Point Studios but in between October 10 and December 21, 1977 at the Path Marconi Studios near Paris

You can verify this on line at Nico Zentgraf's ciberbible, check it out here http://www.nzentgraf.de

Kjell Hello mate.
Lonely at the top
This is what i got from Dieter Hoffman "Das rolling stones weisbuch -91" and "No Expectations No 3 & 4" fanzine by Mats Jarl
1. "Living in a harder world/Living is a harder love" should be "Living in the heart of love"
4. "Linda Lu" title unsure could be "Dancing Girls" as well
5. "Los trios Guitarreros" should be "Munich Raggae II"
9. "Gangsters Maul" should be "Gangsters Moll"

1&2 from Musicland studios, Munich, Germany Nov 13 -24 1973 or same but Jan 1974
3-4&6-9 from Compass Point Studios, Nassau, Bahamas, mid Jan / Feb.8 1979
5 from Musicland studios, Munich, Germany March 22 - April 4 1975 or the remix from Atlantic Studios April-June 1981.

I don't know if this is right or not, but i'm just a lucky owner of the vinyl boot anyway.

Charlie!Charlie! Thanks guys! Great stuff.
Nico Zentgraf's website is incredible!

Still, no lyrics to:

Living in a harder world
Munich Hilton
Lonely at the top

So.... who's got them?
The sound-quality isn't good enough to
listen and write 'em down...

05-25-03 02:34 PM
Charlie!Charlie! Lyrics of What's The Matter are also
not on the 2 mentioned lyrics-websites

Who's got 'em?
