Topic: Leah Wood: I'll Make it on My Own Return to archive
May 24th, 2004 05:24 AM
UGot2Rollme from the wires.. anybody heard her stuff?
---------------------------
Leah Wood has taken advice from her Rolling Stones star dad Ronnie as she embarks on a new musical career - but has vowed to remain her own woman.

The 25-year-old fronts unsigned band the Leah Wood Group, and has appreciated having a dad who can offer her specialist advice on the industry - but is adamant she will prove herself independently.

She says, "He's listened to a few of my tracks and takes notes.

"Obviously I respect my dad's thoughts because he's a great musician and I'd be dumb not to. But other than that, I get on with it the way I feel it should be done.

"This is something I want to do for myself. I did have my doubts - are people just going to say, 'She got into it because of her dad?'"

Well. I don't necesarily agree with that. Connections are a great help but no guarantee. Ultimately it didn't help Julian Lennon, or a host of others. In the music biz I'm hard pressed to come up with a name where the kid knocked off the old man/lady. Maybe the Hank Williams 2 & 3, Natalie Cole??? Even Nelson sucked. ?????????

Based on what, Josh?

glencar Julian Lennon had a huge hit album & 2 or 3 hit singles. Yes, he was terrible but he had a following for a bit.

There is no way she can be a super model....she is, imo, somewhat homely. Leave the modeling to the Jagger/Richards offspring.

I wouldn't say he was "terrible". I think he may have done allright....if he had carried on. I used to check out his website once in awhile. I just sensed a "heavy heart"....not bitterness but a certain sadness. I always liked the guy. But then there is a sense of personal identification....I lost my Mom to a gunshot in 1973. But like they say shit happens.

Super model...?

Try reading what this thread is about first. I know you usually don't. Just try with this one! Then again, it's music-based so your delusion doesn't surprise me. At the very least, if you give your opinion (which I can accept even though it's usually negative) on something, at least know what it is you're actually commenting on.

glencar Motels, I liked his songs in the beginning but the sameness of them all overwhelmed everything else. And sorry about your loss. It must have been tough.
