I was at that show Tuesday night...It was smokin, probably the best Dylan show I've seen...The sound was amazing; I had a feeling the boot would be great.

Are you going to tree some of these shows mac_daddy?

I've read this rumor as well, and Merle Haggard may join them as an opener...And I think it'll be an amazing tour. It'll probably only be out in California and the West, considering he's covered the East coast and Midwest extensively this spring.
April 7th, 2004 03:40 PM
jb What is the largest venue he has played this tour? Are the average crowds around the 3-4k range?

Wow Bob and Willie together!

These will be some great concerts, that's getting your moneys worth.

I predict Willie and Keith teaming up for some project in the (near) future. It's coming, I sense it. Keith wants to work with Willie bad.

Gazza Well this spring tour has primarily been aimed at theatres and clubs so the American university show in DC the other night was, at 6,000, the largest of those venues. Most have been 2000-3000, going down to around 800. The Aragon in Chicago was second largest at around 4,500. Of course, in many of these cities hes played three shows, sometimes in three different theatres.

He tends to vary these venue sizes from one tour to the next. Last summer's US tour included a few stadium sized venues and outdoor "sheds" both with and without The Dead (crowds of over 20,000 part of the time) and the European tour last autumn was mostly arenas. In the summer, Bob will play a few festivals which will again feature large crowds and his two Irish shows in June will be outdoor events in front of 15,000 and 30,000.

I'd guess the summer tour of the US with Willie Nelson will feature mostly arenas and sheds

polksalad69 "I didn't invent this, you know," he stresses. "Robert Johnson would sing some song and out of nowhere there would be some kind of Confucius saying that would make you go, 'Wow, where did that come from?' It's important to always turn things around in some fashion."

Bob Dylan, Robert Hilburn of The Los Angeles Times.

mac_daddy OK - this is kinda getting outta hand...

I had no idea that Dylan was going to be changing his band, playing these smaller places (a nod to the Stones ?? ), mixing up his setlist (let's hope they give a nod back to Bob on this one), lighting it up, etc...

nor did I know that I would get all of these sources, all with solid lineage, as quickly as I did...

nor did I know that so many of you would give a sh*t about them...

I have been pulling them all, but dumping the ones that sound like a$$. I will vine the ones I kept in groups of 4-6 shows. This means 8-12 discs a vine, which can add up quickly. And I essentially have volumes 1 and 2 ready now...
