parmeda NO ROCKIN' AT MICK'S ARTS CENTER

Chicago SunTimes
May 23, 2003
BY DAVID SAPSTED

LONDON--The Mick Jagger performing arts center on the grounds of his old school has banned rock concerts because of complaints about the noise.

Jagger opened the $3.6 million center with ex-wife Jerry Hall three years ago after making a generous donation.

He was understood to be making inquiries about the situation after learning about it this week.

Mike Taylor, who runs the center at Dartford Grammar School in Kent, said the noise had not been caused by the bands but by their fans.

"Some of our neighbors have complained about the noise when young people are waiting outside the center to be picked up by their parents," he said.

"We have had to postpone all future rock gigs. This is not a permanent move; we hope to be able to solve the problem and eventually continue as normal."

I'm sure Mick will chip in so the school doesn't settle for flammable foam packing!
