Jaxx Sky News

The stars came out for the royal couple at a celebrity reception marking the Queen's Golden Jubilee. The Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied the Queen to the Royal Academy of Arts party in London's Piccadilly.

Absent, however, were Rolling Stones Mick Jagger and Keith Richards who had told organisers they would be attending.

TT Cant believe: Mick singing/kneeling for the Queen? OK, rumours are going for 6 months now. But KEITH? Hey, whats wrong with you?
05-23-02 08:28 AM
Scot Rocks Ha Ha well done guys, leave that crap to McCartney and Elton John, you have better things to do like getting those new tracks ready!!!!!!!!!
05-23-02 11:56 AM
KeepRigid "leave that crap to McCartney and Elton John"

Exactly.

Mother baby They are still "subjects" are they not?
05-23-02 02:57 PM
Gazza even if they are, what of it? its a free choice

actually,I'm not so sure Sky's report that they said theyd be "attending" is correct. Mick was one of many possible names mentioned as playing at this concert BEFORE the line up was announced...in the days/weeks before it was announced it was clearly noticeable that he wasn't mentioned anymore. If he was never on the bill in the first place, its hardly a snub. Keith and the rest of the band were NEVER even rumoured to be playing this show.

Mother baby "what of it"...
Well I just thought that if they were "subjects" they might be "obligated" by the power of "suggestion".
05-23-02 03:27 PM
Gazza No..not at all..doesnt work like that!! The monarchy's only effectively a figurehead.

We are a democracy after all (well..sort of.."President" Blair and his Thought Police do sometimes give the opposite impression..)
05-23-02 03:49 PM
Gazza think I got the events mixed up....I was referring to the jubilee concert in london early next month which features a host of pop and rock acts (including OZZY believe it or not!!)

Seems the original post was referring to some gala event last night...oops...sorry!
05-23-02 03:55 PM
Mother baby Ozzy?
Why not? The guy, as they say, can fall into a bucket of shit and come out smelling like a rose.

On June 16, 2001 the hit counter of the WET page was inserted here, it had 174,489 hits. Now the hit counter is for both the page and the board. The hit counter of the ITW board had 1,127,645 hits when it was closed and the Coolboard didn't have hit counter but was on line only two months and a half.
