Glasto Reveal Stones Demand
Dotmusic - Friday, May 18 02:27 pm
The Rolling Stones wanted one million pounds to play the Glastonbury Festival this summer, it has been claimed.
Jagger and co are understood to have been approached about playing the summer gathering, but promoters baulked at their financial requirements.
The Who will now headline the final day, which is traditionally the preserve of rock 'old-stagers' such as The Stones.
Glastonbury booker Martin Elbourne told the BBC how much the band had requested, informing them that Jagger "likes his cash".
The news comes in a week that has seen Mick deny claims from former wife Jerry Hall that he is "tight" with money, calling her remarks "absurd".
"I have always paid all expenses for the children as well as the lion's share of the costs relating to her lifestyle," he said in a newspaper interview.
Meanwhile there are claims this morning that Keith Richards has inked a deal to write "the greatest rock'n'roll book of all time".
His agent, Ed Victor, has confirmed plans are in place for the legendary guitarist to write his memoirs, which will apparently earn him more than $5 million.

I would imagine that their fee for the smaller attended and less high-profile Isle of Wight show was less than that? |

Howe much will the take be for Galstonbury? I would think in the US that festivals pay nicely, no? |

They must really have wanted to do it like Mick said because that seems a bit less than their usual asking price I would imagine. |
