Does antbody else think that the only reason that the Stones are doing another world tour so soon after the last one is because Charlie is going to peg it?
Obviously I hope not |

Frankly, I'm more concerned for Ronnie's immediate health, if anyone's.
Charlie got the all-clear,so I dont think his mortality is uppermost in their minds specifically. He's traditionally the most reluctant Stone to tour and he wouldnt go on the road this time if he wasnt up to it
I just think the main reason why there are less gaps between tours now is that a) they are aware of their age and that they wont be able to do this forever as a band b) they dont NEED the lengthy breathing space from each other that they did in the 80's and band relationships are so much better than back then and c) they've also accepted that individually and separately their solo work won't keep them in the public eye and feed their egos (and pockets) like a length of activity with the band can.
I also dont think for a minute that the Stones would go on the road for a month, let alone a year, if they ALL didnt feel they were physically healthy enough.
If any of them felt their time was short due to declining health, I dont think they'd want to spend that much time away from their families.
I do believe what Mick said the other day. Take each tour as it comes. I've always believed that although some of the rumours in recent weeks about a 'final tour' made me have some doubts. Any 'final tour' will be retrospective and not announced in advance as the band wont stop until one of them either keels over or becomes physically incapable of playing.

When a reporter at the pc asked if this would be the last stones tour. Charlie said yes. I know it sounded like a joke, but Im thinking that hes had enough |

Well I hope not but you cant rule it out can you. They will never admitt to anything as sinister as that. It is very soon after the last tour too |

He always says that! Watching the video footage, it was his dry humour at its best.
I'll always go along with what Shirley Watts said a few years ago. Charlie feels that if he said 'no' he'd be letting Mick and Keith down and he's never do that.
as long as he's healthy enough, he'll keep touring, I think |

Charlie likes to play that up though dosent he!
make out that really hates all the touring etc...Im sure they dont do it too tough on tour
Im also sure that Charle does not hate it as much as he makes out otherwise he wouldnt keep doing it. He would have quit like Bill
thats part of Charlies charm, "Im just a jazz drummer that accidently fell into this gig and i hate it but i goodnaturedly keep going" thing that he has going on...I love charlie and Im sure he will be there for at least another one or two more tours. |

You just have to look at Charlie while they play, in the video footage of the press conf. He's smiling, looking fit, energetic. He's obviously feeling up to touring and enjoyed that mini-show.
Note also that in the RS.com intw he said the songwriting sessions with Mick and Keith were "very pleasant" or something to that effect |

Oh I definately agree that Charlie must enjoy the music to keep on playing it. But I think he does really hate the constant traveling around the world. He hates flying (As seen on the shots of the band in the blimp in Four flicks dvd "Tip of the Tongue") and a world tour revolves on travel.
I think the Cancer scare has been just that, a big scare. Its very supriding how much of a shock to the system cancer can be and although hes looking fit and well, I think he has realised (and probably the rest of the band have too) that he is not imortal.
The recording sessions would have been pleasant because I think Mick and Keith have finally accepted that they have to get on to write good music. They disagreed and fought with eachother in the 80s and 90s and their work suffered, the stones suffered.
Maybe now they are relaxed around eachother again, they will have written a much better record.
I dont think Charlie will tour anymore after this. |

you don't think they've discussed this amongst themselves enough times. Charlie wouldn't be saying no seriously if he & Mick were gonna get into a disagreement on stage. it was obviously a joke - besides, Charlie had to say something, did you expect him to just stand there without saying something kinda funny?
if you'd heard that question as many times as the Stones you'd be going with the quick answer route to just to get those idiot journalists to shut it for a little while |

charlie has quit the band at the end of nearly every tour.... |

Charlie is just grandstanding folks, of course he doesn't mean it!
It whips the media up into a frenzy with talk of a possible last tour but we all know that won't happen. They'll tour until Keith can't hold a guitar anymore, Charlie loses his beat, Ronnie can't hold a guitar anymore and Mick loses his voice!
Look at James Brown he can't stop either it's the love of the music and the day you stop loving the music is when they might as well retire!!! |

I agree. My mother has had two different types of cancers, had to have 6 weeks of radiation and she's been cancer free for over ten years. |

Just listen to the drum roll at the start of Oh No...brilliant as Charlie leads the band..knowing its a first take he is rock steady as the boys lean on him again! |
