Topic: so who's bought a $450 ticket?? Return to archive Page: 1 2 3
May 11th, 2005 03:34 PM
Saint Sway anyone??

I'm curious to see how many die hards here are actually willing to pay the $450 face +plus handling charges +plus the $100 membership fee

by my stoner math estimates, thats around $600 for the FACE VALUE price of a ticket!! I cant imagine what a broker would charge for that same ticket!

has anyone here bought one?

also...
and if you did buy one, where is your seat?

I saw a $450 ticket onsale today and it was in the 35th row of Giants Stadium!!!
May 11th, 2005 03:37 PM
glencar I did not & most likely will not unless it's for a hot venue. But Giants Stadium? They can kiss my ass!
May 11th, 2005 04:05 PM
flexy633 I had the opportunity to buy a $450 ticket using a friend's AMEX card. But, there is NO WAY I was charging $900 to their card. As much as I love the Stones, I don't have the money to fork out on those tickets.
May 11th, 2005 06:49 PM
lotsajizz 4 X $453 tiks....you DON'T want to be in the cheap seats at Fenway!!!!
May 11th, 2005 09:53 PM
kahoosier Oh Hell, I did better than that! I bought a $615 ticket at the arena in Miami!! Row 13!!! Using one of my fan club codes!!!!! Now it all sound pretty stupid .

However my window of time in the USA is so narrow, and other commitments loom. I am hoping I do better time and moeny wise on the rst of the tour. I still hace a slight flexibilty if the Tower really does happen, but only really if it happens with a day of to of the philly show already booked and hiopefull after.
May 11th, 2005 09:56 PM
Angiegirl Kahoosier, you did not seriously buy a $600+ ticket did you? To see a single Stones show? From row 13? Please tell me you're kidding...

Oh, and no way we're getting those absurd outrages prices in Holland thank goodness. Everyone in Holland was completely in disbelief when we heard the prices for the Ahoy Arena show in 2003: most expensive ones were floor tickets for 120 Euro ($150 with current conversion, probably less 2 years ago)... bought in general public sales too, no 100 dollar membership either (although I did buy one to get a club ticket)...

I feel for you with those prices. Come to Europe!

HellsRollingThunder I wrote the RO Office and asked them what the do about people
who are disabled. Who in the hell sits in the front row? The
BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE?? OR THE BEAUTIFUL PHOTOGRAPHERS AND REPORTERS AND SPECIAL PEOPLE?
I am not sitting in the 199th row for a Stones show and paying
all that money and they can kiss my royal butt!! WE SHOULD
START BITCHING LIKE CRAZY AND TELL THEM THAT IF THEY
DON'T GIVE THE GOOD SEATS TO THEIR FANS MAYBE THEY
MAY HAVE NO FANS IN THE SEATS!!

I cannot walk very well and do not want to sit all the way where I
have to look at a GIANT television screen. I can get pay per view
on HBO and do that at home in my mamma jammas. I have a friend who works the Savvis Center selling beer maybe he can
help me out that night. Hmmmmm.
May 12th, 2005 02:20 AM
Bitch I paid $450 + BS, totalled $955 for 2 tickets, presale Giants Stadium. Have to be there, but not happy about the Outrageous prices - hope it doesn't rain, that would really suck.
May 12th, 2005 03:35 AM
UGot2Rollme my philosophy is that it isn't how close you are to the stage, it's how close you are to the music - some of my best concert experiences have been far from the stage..
I remember last time the Stones came to MCI Center (No Security) I refused to go for the $300 floor seats, instead got a side view for $99 where the sound was quite good. I'm still happy about that decision.

That said... if the sound quality is like Licks (piss poor in some cases), it might be worth shelling out the extra 000's to be guaranteed that you'll hear it best.

True sometimes, but IMO a gig is not just an audio experience. What's the point in going to gig in the first place, if you can't be close to the band? You might as well get the bootleg of the show and groove to the music at home or out in the street or wherever. I think when you go to a gig of a band you love, you need to have some sort of real visual contact with them, not just through a huge screen.

I don't think HellsRollingThunder is saying anything unreasonable here mate. The tickets for the US Stones shows are by any logical measure unbelievably overpriced. It's not insane to ask for a good seat when you pay such money. Actually, it's attitudes like this (i.e. "stay home if you don't like the prices - we're going anyway") that allow the promoters get away with murder here.
May 12th, 2005 06:55 AM
paragoensia This can't be true.....

Those prices! I'd rather be sodomised by a syphilitic bear! For that kind of money I want a comlimentairy telecaster signed by keith (or a date with one of his daughters!). If they'll charge these prices in holland I'll burn the bloody stadium down. (of course the one in Rotterdam first!

What do you guys('n gals) think....What would be a resonable price? I think $150,- should be the absolute maximum.

Gazza Same here

but a lot of people have already reported getting great seats for $160, which I'm pleased to hear.

I dont intend spending any more than that price range on a stadium. Even in the first few rows you're still always going be quite some distance away anyway.

you must be an Ajax fan by the sound of it!
May 12th, 2005 10:34 AM
flexy633 I was able to get decent seats this morning for the second pre-sale in Chicago. I'm not on the field, but am pretty happy with the tickets I got for $160 plus the fees, plus the $100 fan club membership. My boss should be thrilled when he gets his AMEX bill and sees $456 worth of charges for 2 Stones tickets. OH, well....he'll be paid back soon enough. I'm just happy that he allowed me to use his card and that I'm getting to go!!!

StonesChick

I bought $400 tickets for Miami and am sitting in 10th row. It's worth it to me! I have to be able to "see" them at least once in my life.
May 12th, 2005 11:17 AM
kahoosier Stoneschick I am sooo happy for you, but I wonder how you got three rowss in front of me for $200 less????

I bought a "hotseat" because it guaranteed row 5-15 and I certainly could not get better than I did with Row 13 by any other option I tried. Now I admit I did have delays discussed elsewhere....were you able to get a presale fan club seat better than a hot seat for $400 and did I just buy $200 worth of crap to be mailed at an uncertain date for the "hot seat" qualification?

If my travel plans had been more open I would never have spent this and I would have waited, but timing of ticket sales, shows, and long planned travel have just not jived this time around. I hope I have better luck as they head around the world.

I was wondering the same thing. I didn't buy a hotseat. I wasn't sure what it was. I clicked on existing platinum member and went for the best seats. I joined rs.com last year so I had preference over members joining now. Did you? The hot seat said rows 5-15 but it was great that we could look and see out seats, and row 10 popped up. I was ecstatic! Good luck with the rest of the venues. I hope to see multiple also.

I'd rather kill myself
May 12th, 2005 03:34 PM
Gimme Shelter I just spent $1343.35 on two seats to the San Francisco show on Nov. 13th with my Fan Club password in the Presale. I sure hope they are in the inner circle or however close Mick was saying that some seats might be.

May 12th, 2005 03:37 PM
billy Maybe you are so close to Mick you can hear him whisper: thanks for the money pal
May 12th, 2005 03:50 PM
Factory Girl Bruce is charging $78-$88 for arena. Dylan charged $59 for a club show.

The Stones are bleeding their fans, as has become their fashion.
May 12th, 2005 03:53 PM
billy yes but what can a poor boy do except to sing for a rock 'n' roll band?
May 12th, 2005 06:23 PM
KeepRigid Were floor seats for the Licks tour $350? The most I have ever paid for a ticket was around $150 during No Security, yet I remember having nice floor seats on Licks for around $120.

Or have I just imagined all of this to make myself feel better?
May 12th, 2005 07:46 PM
crb69 The more I read this thread the sicker I get. I feel for the true fans that are getting raped. Does a bottle of K-Y cum with that $1000 pair of tix?

You would think that the multi-million dollar Stones, who have already broken 2 financial records, would make their obvious last tour affordable to ALL. A lot of folks are out of work in the USA and people would love to even bring their children to see the GRNRBITWorld...$160-$450 for DECENT seats??

They should be ashamed of themselves! $50-$100 should be tops for a stadium show for all seats...

They couldn't even rehearse for the damned press conference. There was sloppy guitar work in there along with Mick reading lyrics, to a song he just wrote, from the stage floor. Wake up and smell the java!

Yes they are the best but God Damn it guys, play tight already this time. I just don't want to look back at the Stones as sloppy players who over charged their fans at the end of their career...

It says it all when you look forward to the tour and CD & then have mixed emotions about even going when the damned tour is announced. (By the way, my other friends feel the same way)
May 12th, 2005 07:56 PM
Dan I guess we will have to wait to see how they do during the general onsale but if so many people can spend that much money without blinking an eye just because its the Stones, then its painfully obvious that the Stones STILL arent charging enough for tickets.
May 12th, 2005 08:02 PM
crb69 Ludacris...It's Only Rock N' Roll Ya

I guess when you are a guitar player and singer such as myself you notice a lot more screw ups than most people. I understand that they are in their 60's but they get paid millions of dollars to practice and write songs. I feel it's wrong to overcharge the fans and then obviously wing it on stage as a legendary wealthy guitarist...

The Black Crowes have been playing constructive, tight, improvisation lately...enjoy!

Do a little research and you'll find that "things are not what they seem" because I discovered that seats within the first 10 rows were being sold for $99 during the presale and I think that's a pretty good deal.

And although some things in life are better when they're "tight", rock'n'roll ain't one of them!

That is a miracle...mustav been a typ-o. As far as tight, I wouldn't want to hear the same riffs played note for note every night...just know the damn song! There's a difference between playing solidly and sloppily; especially when you're worth millions and charging $450 a ticket! that is all my friend, that is all.

I've been listening to a lot of the older live stuff, maybe that's why I'm a tad disgruntled. When shows were $10 to get in and you heard hungry musicians jamming their hearts out. Watch the uncut version of CYHMK from the HBO show @ MSG. Keef's mistake and reaction to Ronnie sez it all...
